Tables in Wonderland

Does anyone know if TIW can be used w/ the dining plan? I have purchased the deluxe plan in the past however it was just too much food. We do however tend to order wine and apps with the sit down meal I would probably break even on that alone.

Yes. You can use a TIW card for food/beverages not covered on the dining plan...at participating locations, of course!

Thank you mousemomx2. Do you happen to know if the discount also applies to the drink kiosks around the world showcase? The evening is usually reserved for Mommy and Daddy strolling the showcase for a couple of cocktails.:)

TiW is good at table service places. There are a few QS places that offer a discount (a few AK QS places, the POP food court, to name a few), but there are no kiosks which participate in the TiW program.

Thank you gmi3804 that's what I assumed but was hoping I was wrong. Oh well now I have to bust out the calculator to see if it's worth it lol.

TiW works if you order beverages INSIDE at Rose and Crown. That's where we use it most.;)

We purchase the regular dining plan every time we go and always use the TIW card for apps and drinks. It is definately cheaper than purchasing the deluxe dining plan and way less food so it works out when someone may not want an app.

I have done the math for us. Most of my family likes appetizers as well as dessert with their meal as well as their snack and a counter service lunch.

If your family likes to eat the way we do, it is definately way cheaper using both the regular dining plan and TIW card then either purchasing the deluxe plan or using just the TIW card.

My family and I were in the World last week, and on Saturday, we were at HS and I went to Guest Services to purchase an A/P and TIW. I purchased the A/P and then asked to purchase the TIW. The CM saw that I had my DVC membership card, and asked another CM which TIW rate should she charge me - the A/P or the DVC... It was at that point I asked if the DVC TIW card was available, and was told yes. I then asked for the A/P to be cancelled and reverted back to my 8 day pass and that I wanted to purchase the DVC TiW card for $100. Other wise, I would have been out the 95 or so dollars for the A/P upgrade AND the 75 for the TiW card.

My TiW card expires in February 2013.

As long as you aren't going to need to buy more tickets to enjoy that TIW card through Feb 2013, that worked out great for you!

can someone explain to be the saving in using this? it costs $100.00 and they add the 18% tip to each meal automatically it says, so seems to be on the surface you are actually getting a 2% saving

That's assuming you're not going to tip.

well you tip anyway, correct? And at the standard rate for that area, correct? So it's a 20% savings.

Actually it works better for us as we tip 20% when we're doing the calcs so we also save an additional 2% from the lesser tip when we use the card.

Exactly. My wife and I are 20% tippers. As a general rule, if a restaurants adds tip we pay what they add, no more, no less. So an 18% tip for us is actually a 2% savings. plus the 20% you get with the card.

If you don't include tip, you are just being cheap. I don't know about Disney, but I know where we live, servers rely on tips for their salary. I've been a waiter years ago, and I don't believe in poor tipping if you get poor service. Complain about poor service so it gets corrected. Just my 2cents.

I think the discount is worth it, at the $75 price. At $100, it depends on the length of stay for us. I just want to know other than Rose and Crown (inside), where else can you use on drinks in the world showcase since it was posted that they don't take it at the kiosks. Getting drinks at Epcot or at the resorts is where we would probably save, so I'd like to know ahead of time where to get my drinks ;)

Any TS place with bar service will offer the TiW discount. I can't think of any Epcot TS restaurant that doesn't serve liquor. Maybe the character meal place in The Land?

I also know that lounges at the resorts also honor the card.

Is it safe to say that everywhere offers the discount for TIW?
I am staying 8 nights at the BWVs and planning on eating all around there and possibly EPCOT and DS.
Thanks.

If the place takes the TiW card, it always includes all food and drink.

There's a list here.

If you're going to use the card at the counter service places included (QS at Animal Kingdom, Sassagoula, Artist's Palette, the Value food courts), remember, there's NO tip on top of it.

We stay at the BWV several times a year and there are not very many places there that accept it. The lounge inside the BW does, Kouzzina, Flying Fish are a couple that do. The bakery and ice cream store does not, nor does any of the kiosks on the BW and the pool bar does not accept it either. There are no fastfood CS locations, so no option there. Not sure about Jellyrolls or Atlantic dance. As a general rule no kiosks accept it. We have been TiW cardholders for 6 years and love having this discount card. When you buy your card now they give you a sleeve to carry it in which has pages of information and a list of locations that accept it.

My wife and I really enjoy walking the world showcase and getting a drink at each country over the course of an evening. With the TIW card, we would have to go inside each countries restaurant to use it correct? The beer garten in Germany, or the little stand outside Japan where I can get a Kiran would not take the card correct?

If so, it's a bummer, but still worth it for the discount. If you figure at least $1 per drink, It would easily add up to $10 or more between the two of us for an evening around the world.

Not sure why I got this comment "That's assuming you're not going to tip" Never was one word mentioned I was not going to tip I was figuring that information into the formula to understand any saving I would get. And to clearify to you my daughter and grand daughter are both waitress and work for tip so I am the last person to not tip after eating out. But I feel to get a true saving all expenses should be counted into the formula.
