Tables in Wonderland

I' m here now and while I just mine because I'm an AP holder, I'll try to stop by guest services and ask. As for the poster who questioned letting others use their card.....I've been carded several times recently using my TiW card. Recently I've been asked for ID at the 50s prime time, Olivia's, and several of the value resort food courts. I would probably be asked more often for my ID, but I use my room card with my name on it to pay.

I would be interested to hear what you find out. We will be there shortly.

The TOWL is not listed on the TIW website as a location. I'm curious as to why all lounges/CS/restaurants run by disney in WDW are not included.

TOWL access is restricted to DVC Members staying at BLT so they don't list the TIW.

Maybe Disney wants guests to buy the DDP instead of using the TIW.

Disney is very good at offering a program, then restricting it's use. Many of the dining discounts are offered by outside companies, not Disney because Disney doesn't want to give a discount if they don't have to.

I've used the TiW card at the TOTWL previously.

Is there a link to where all the restaurants are listed for the TiW card?
We are doing a split stay and staying at BLT for 3 nights since we enjoy going to Cali Grill and TOTW and also eat at nicer restaurants.
There are 4 of us so I would like to see if it is worth it.
Thanks so much.

Boy am I stupid. I just reread this thread, and didn't realize I posted the same question twice. Sorry.....

Anyway, we would probably still by it if it is the $100 for DVC members, but I'm curious. My brother is planning a trip in December. If we got it in Nov, could he use it on his trip in December, or will he need I.D. or a membership card? I'm not trying to be a scammer, just help my brother out if it's allowed.

I only ask because we traveled last year with friends, and they handed us their card every time we went somewhere to eat or drink without them. Is that different because I was vacationing with them?

I have had to show my ID every single time I've used the TIW card.

The TIW card is listed for AP holders and FL residents, and now(or soon to be DVC members) They offer an additional card for $50. Who is eligible for that second card? Does it have to be another AP holder, FL resident or DVC member, or could you buy one for a family member?

We were thinking of purchasing it before our Nov trip, and since my brother is going in Dec, if I bought mine for the rumored $100 and got an extra card for him for $50, that brings the price to $75 a piece, unless he cannot be added because he is not a member.

It is for another member of your household- so a husband and wife could both have a card if they wanted. I think it may be the same membership number so I don't know if you could use both the cards (from the same membership) to get a discount for more than 10 people at the same table.

We became members in november and bought AP and TIW card. Have found it good value as it covers the tip of 18% and a bit extra. Can I ask. Is there any CS tht take this card? If so do they still add gratuity?

The list of counter service was posted above- and no they don't add grautity if they are a counter service so you jsut get a 20% discount.

I stopped by customer services at ak. I asked about the dvc tiw discount. She was confused a bit until she checked the computer. I now have a tiw card for $100. It says dvc member on the back with my name.

very excited that it was that easy to get! Looking forward to utilizing this during our upcoming trip in June! With 8 of us there and eating at a lot of signature-type restaurants, would definitely make our money back and some!

We've already figured out that DDP won't work for us.

What is TIW? I have hread ot spoken of often, but never figured out what exactly it is.

SO I'm asking the experts

Thanks erionm that was a fast response.
ANd thank everyone for having the discussion.

So if I am understanding correctly, it is an annual discount card with more restaurants at a 20% discount on food and beverage (including alcohol) than DVC members currently get for free?
More offerings and not subject to changing member perk whims?

Am I correct that if you annually spend $375 the 20% discount would be $75 or the cost of the TiW for AP? $100 for non AP would break even at $500 annual spending?

So if you are going to spend more than that at the restaurants listed it is pretty much a no brainer?
Only possible negative would be required 18% gratuity in the event of poor service which I am pretty sure won't be an issue.

This is sounding like a great option for us if I understand it correctly.

We figured out the DDP would not really do much for us.

It's been years since we have been at WDW pre-DDP. How necessary are ADRs these days?

We like to go with the flow and usually only pre-plan at most one special meal a day. Otherwise too much watching the time to enjoy the spontaneity.
Will that still work?

TIW is not free for DVC members. With an AP, the cost for it is $75. DVC members being able to get it without having an AP is a very new perk. I didn't think it was official yet, but I did read a report that someone was able to get it already, but it was $100.

The breakeven for the TIW with an AP is $375 in food purchases, I believe and it TIW is $100 without an AP the breakeven is $500 in food purchases. (someone please correct me if I'm wrong)

ADRs are very necessary, IMO, especially for restaurants in the parks and character meals, and especially during free dining and busy times. If you are flexible with the times you eat (very late or very early), and where you eat you may be able to do ok.

Thanks for clarifying.

I worded that wrong. I know TiW is not free for DVC members. I meant the member perks/discounts we occassionally get of 10-20% discounts for various restaurants and services that are free with our DVD membership. They change frequently and can not really be counted on months in advance to make ADRs.

Thanks everyone for talking about this as you just helped my family out tremendously. We had already decided to get APs for our family this year to cut costs on a two part trip with family in between that made getting a multiday pass not workable and more expensive than the AP option.

To find out the AP will allow us to get a TiW just gave me the financial clout to say we're doing more TS for our visit!

Thank you for the link. I just read it.
I believe I am going to purchase the card for our upcoming August/September trip. We will eat at a few Signature restaurants as well as other TS restaurants.

We usually rent a car although next trip using ME, but I did not valet is complimentary if used for dining. We always valet so this was a nice perk especially since we no longer get it for DVC membership.
