Tables In Wonderland Questions

we are going on 2, maybe 3, trips over the next year. The first one we will be onsite and may get the DDP (that is what DH wants), but we will be off-site for the second trip.

My question is, would it be worth it to get the TIW card on the first trip and use it for the alcohol portion of our bill? Can you do this?

If you are getting it with an AP for $75 you need to spend $375 to break even. If you are getting it with DVC for $100, you need to spend $500 to break even.

you may use the TiW card on anything that is not otherwise covered under the DDP( as long as it qualifies under the TiW guidelines). so yes in my opinion it would be worth it to pick up the card for the first trip just for booze even if you only have one drink a day with dinner that can still come close to paying for itself even before you factor in your second trip off site.

Hi! No worries at all. :)

Okay, I just called the Tables in Wonderland phone number. The CM when I made the ADR for the Spirit of Aloha show was "WRONG"! lol! He said I should get the discount when I get there. That's not correct. When you call Disney to make your ADR for a dinner show YOU NEED TO GIVE THEM YOUR TIW NUMBER at that point, NOT WHEN YOU GET THERE, lol! I just want everyone to be clear that's why I capped the previous sentence, lol!

They had to rebook me using the TIW number first. They put the discounted amount on my VISA, then THEY CANCELLED my old reservation. This took about 25 minutes, but at least it is done.

Brunette:wizard:

Ugh... seriously? I already have ADR's for HDDR & CRT prepaid... I figured they could just credit my card when we get there. I had made ADR's for the Dining Plan last time and they had to just credit our meal when we got there... it was no biggie. I would think TIW would be the same.

I think you would still be able to get a "refund". I'm sure there are plenty of people who make their reservations but have to wait until they get onsite to buy/pick up their TIW card. I think you can just show them the card when you check in and they will take care of it:goodvibes.

Thanks! That's what I was thinking of doing.. (waiting till we get there to pick up the card). Only 84 more days and we shall see :)

That is what we are doing too. We already booked and paid for CRT. I figured we would just get a credit when we showed them TIW card, which we aren't buying until we get there.

Not sure what if anything has changed but we used TIW at HDDMR in 2010 and got a refund. We just presented our card at the ticket window and they fixed it there.

Make sure that if you book using TIW at one of the pre pay meals (dinner shows and CRT) that you check your bill at the end.
I booked CRT and they charge me the discounted price at the time of booking.
It did seem a bit low to me but since gratuity is included in with the cost of CRT's price, I thought maybe it was offset by not readding the 18% TIW gratuity then.
I tried not to think into "DISNEY MATH" too much.
However, when we were there ....for Father's Day with my Dad and other guests, I was hit at the end of the meal with an additional 40+ dollar tab with the server saying I was charge wrong.
Normally, I would have said that Disney has been booking and charging for this meal in advance forever and if you all didn't get it right then, you aren't getting more out of me now. But, I didn't want to cause a scene at the end of my Dad's special day.
Needless to say, it really left a bad taste in my mouth for disney's continued "left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing" management style that I see everywhere now.
Just be aware of the situation though because I could have been significantly embarrassing if we had been there and did not happen to have almost 50 bucks extra to pay the balance of our PRE-PAID dinner.

I don't think Disney knows how to handle the TIW ressies. I have tried giving them my number when making reservations and told they couldn't take it. I have been charged (CRT) for a ressie without being told it was happening..then when I went to pay...they said "Oh...well you already paid for dinner...but since you have a TIW card we will give you the discount on a gift card (it didn't work-had to go back and have it loaded).

I have tried to pick tickets up at the conceirge desk only to have them clueless as to how to apply the discount..and I have picked up tickets at the venue and they didn't have a clue either. This last trip we finally had a CM who breezed right through the process at the pick up window.

We had a terrible mess trying to get the discount on our grooms dinner at Ohana and the reception at the HDDR...it took months to get that straightened out.

Best of luck to you who are using it for the pre-paid ressies!

Question. I reserved a Table for 2 at the Spirit of Aloha. I have the TIW card and called reservations. They DID NOT give me the discounted price of 20 percent. I paid full price that was put on my Visa card. The CM at reservations told me they would deduct the discount when I get there! :confused3 This makes no sense at all. Is this what they generally do?

Thanks all so much!

A hug! Long time no see :)

Good luck with the TIW ressies and I hope you enjoy the SOA show...we love it...especially the never ending drink glasses!

So I have a CRT reservation already booked (and prepaid for) in my name. I was going to purchase TiW, but in DBF's name (he pays for food usually). Will CRT still give ME the 20% refund since the name are different?

Also, this is our second trip as AP holders, but I didn't purchase TiW when we were there in Oct. Do you think it's still worth it? I don't think we will be back in 2013 (cruise instead). But we are staying a full 7 nights. So far ADRs include Jiko, CRT, Le Cellier, and Sci-Fi. And yes, I do partake in the adult beverages.

TIA!!

He has to pay for it to get the discount.

So how does TiW work at someplace like CRT where the tip is automatically included? Would you be charged an additional 18%?
I'm pretty sure the answer is no, but just checking.
Have had trouble in the past after eating at CRT - charged full price when booking - then trying to use DxDDP. Almost not worth the hassle sometimes....

Estimate how much you will be spending on food for this trip. As long as you will be spending at least $375, then you will hit your break even point on the cost of getting the TIW. Remember to only include your TS ADRs. My guess would be with the 4 ADRs you have listed, is that you would definitely hit the break even point and most likely surpass it (especially when you include alcohol). For example, my DH and I ate at Jiko last May and our total bill for that meal alone, including a bottle of wine, was $197.

Good luck :thumbsup2

I am interested in this answer also. Since it is a fixed price meal, I'm thinking the 20% will just come off the price.

We have used the DxDDP for three years in the past and each year I would book CRT and pay and then asked for a refund when we got there. The first two years, I had to call after we got back and ask again for the refund, last year, they finally got it in without me having to call back.
