We're going this August on the 4/3 deal. I intend to upgrade our passes to annual passes, and then we'll return for a trip before Christmas.

I purchased the dining plan for our August trip, but I'm thinking of getting a TIW card to cover the December trip as well as one next June.

So my question is, when is the annual membership for TIW starting? Does it start with the AP date, or does it start with the date of purchase for the TIW?

I know my AP would expire one year from the date of our first day of use of that original pass, but if I wait until the December trip to buy a TIW, would it then be good until the following December?

Thanks!

The TIW is good from the date you purchase it, doesnt matter if you buy it after your APs or not and they are good for 13 months.

The TIW starts when you start it.......You have your AP either as a voucher or already have one....We had our AP's and then added the TIW at Disney when we arrived at Guest Services at MK.....So your TIW can keep on going even if you AP expires before your TIW expires......WE did three trips on this one....One a year ago May. 9 days, then in September we had 7 days and then again this past April into May.....8 days....well worth it for sure

I thought I had heard you can purchase TIW when you arrive now. Thanks for confirming it. ;) I haven't had it in a few years and I think when we did it before it had to be ordered in advance. I was just looking around for info on this. Perfect timing! :goodvibes

You might get a little more mileage out of TIW if you got it sooner than later, even with the Dining Plan (unless you can use it to cover another trip past December).

The TIW card is good off alcoholic beverages and other things not covered by the dining plan. In fact it is good at a lot of the lounges at the resorts as well.

Don't forget that you'd have to spend pre-discount $375 worth of eligible dining to cover the $75 cost of the card itself. Depending on the size of your group, that could be a few table service meals.

The expiration date of the TIW card is a bit weird. It's not exactly 13 months. I believe it expires at the end of the 12th full month after you get it. For instance, we got our most recent one on 10/4/08, and it expires 11/31/09.
