background- we booked back in March with anticipation of switching to FD promotion. Promotion was released and my TA didn’t respond for 3 days so I took it upon myself to book our reservations with the promotion and asked her to cancel the ones she made. She finally responded claimed she could potentially get us additional discounts and I told her to go ahead and try but otherwise we wanted to cancel. Have not heard from her since.

Attempted contact again without a response.

We have what we need for new reservations just curious what we should do about the two (two rooms) that we need to cancel if we still don’t hear from her? Currently only paid the $200 deposit on each which I want back. Should I try contacting Disney directly or the travel company she works for? What happens if we get to the due date for the balance and they’re still not canceled? Will I lose both deposits?

Not sure this is the right place to post but hoping for some advice!

I'd contact the company and ask for a supervisor or manager. Get names and follow up with emails.

If you don't get any satisfaction from the TA, you can try Disney but I know some have had problems when calling direct because the reservation is 'owned' by TA.

I had a similar situation, you can fax or email Disney and let them know you want to take over your reservations and release your travel agent. Give them a call they will walk you through. Once my sister got an awesome pin and she could book up to 3 rooms with her pin so I wanted to take advantage of it but the travel agent was pissed and wouldn’t cancel my reservation so I called disney and asked them what to do, they walked me through it.

How did Disney help you to get your deposit back from the TA?

Was this a local agency? In which case you could go down to the agency and ask to speak with the manager.
I’d be surprised if this was a Disney Specialized agency that only does Disney bookings. Please let us know what happened.

How unprofessional of that agent! I hope your sister reported that agent to the Better Business Bureau.

How did Disney help you to get your deposit back from the TA?

When you pay the deposit, the TA pays it to Disney (within 3 days or the reservations will be lost) so the TA isn't actually holding any money. That it, unless it is one of those agencies that asks for additional money as a deposit - I don't know what to do about that.

It would drive me crazy not having this resolved. I would get in my car and go to the travel agency immediately and not leave until I had gotten my deposit back. Then I would write a scathing review on Yelp.

I would be emailing and certify snail mailing: TA and TA's company. They are being unprofessional.

I would be emailing Disney Travel Co with supporting documents (including you rebooked FD on your own when TA didn't). They need to know the TA is not representing them well.

I would be contacting my CC company and filing a dispute with supporting documents. They need to be involved to help get your money returned.
