TA for Honeymoon

So I'm trying to plan our honeymoon and since this was going to be the biggest trip we've ever taken, I thought about trying a travel agent. I contacted two different companies (which may be a no no I'm not sure) but I wanted to have something to compare to since staying on Disney Property is something I've never done. I got two different quotes and they are identical in what they offer (8 day park hoppers, disney dining plan, standard room Coronado Springs. Both offer one free trip to Disney quest). The confusing part is one quote came in at 2900 and the other at 3500. I could see a hundred or two hundred difference but the 600 seems extreme. The two companies are Magical Vacations Travel and Small World.

Any advice or any idea why they are so different?

Just out of curiosity, which was cheaper? Perhaps one company found better discounts? That's really crazy!

i use a travel agent for some of my travel. many times we book off the disney website. if i were in charge of a large group for the wedding, i would definitely use a TA. i can’t speak to what the difference is here, but unless you are traveling at some kind of event time in which the TA has it’s own, larger room block you are booking a part of, i would assume prices should be the same, it would be the perks/service that might be different - offering disney quest, dessert parties (for the TA group), booking credit, even in room gift or something? - not the overall price. possibly there is some kind of discount applied to one but not the other? a difference that large i would be suspicious of..... i believe i’ve heard of both agencies, i think i would look at what the exact room categories quoted are. depending on the length of your vacation, that ~$600 could be a room location difference.

Hi- I have never used a travel agent. I actually find booking a trip to Disney to be really easy. Have you gone on their site and priced out the same package? The Magic your way package includes 2 tickets to Disney Quest, tokens for arcade, discounts at the marina, etc. I honestly don't know if there is any advantage of going through a travel agent versus Disney.

One other thing-this is totally MY opinion and hopefully others will share their opinions as well- I would save your money and skip the park hoppers. In all the times we have gone to WDW, we have never felt the desire to go to more than one park in a day. Frankly, there is so much to do in each of the parks and so much walking involved that if we do not think we will want to spend the entire day in one of the parks, we do something else outside the parks - go to Downtown Disney, rent a boat, play miniature golf, etc.

Just curious, have you looked at Port Orleans Riverside versus Coronado Springs?

One advantage that travel agents offer is knowing what discounts are available and when new ones come up. The good ones will inform you when a new discount has appeared and will let you know what the options are and whether it's a good deal or not. Anyone can actually do that, but i usually have too much going on so i have a travel agent take care of that for me.

I also find that the more unfamiliar with a park I am, the better a travel agent is for me. For example, I'm feel I'm better off with a disney travel agent if I were to go on a cruise or a Disneyland trip than if I were to book it myself.
