Do you use a TA when you book a cruise? If so, what are the advantages of using one? I hear all these great things about Costco in the US and some other US agencies that seem to have a lot of little perks - Onboard credit, gift baskets etc, but alas, a Canadian posted that we can't use Costco and I'm really not sure about the other US agencies.

Maybe we can't even name names here, but I'm just wondering if there is any advantage to transferring my next cruise to a TA:confused3

I use Mousefan travel and the agent I use has many clients from Canada. The other agencies that the previous poster mentioned will book for you too.

There are many good ones out there to choose from.

Also, many will offer an on board credit. My agent usually gives an on board credit and sends a gift to the state room.

I don't know, but you best decide fast. Disney has just changed their policy in that you can now only transfer a reservation within 30 days of booking to a TA.

They are making it more difficult for people to 'shop around' for the best OBC in hopes of creating a more level playing field for all TA's.

I suggest checking out Dreams Unlimited...after all they do sponsor these boards. :thumbsup2

What gift basket?? I want to know which agent!! :)

That would be an agents gift to their client.
Same with an OBC ..unless their agency happens to have group space on that particular sailing with an OBC as one of the amenities.:)

We booked our cruise a few years ago through Christine at Fairytale Dreams and Destinations, she's somewhere near Toronto but gives great service by phone/email. I generally prefer my own "homework" to a TA but cruising was new to us, and Christine was great. She knows her stuff, and managed to make our lives easier and save us some money. I'd recommend her without hesitation.s

We're using Dreams Unlimited for our cruise in December. As a Canadian i have had no problems dealing with Dreams Unlimited. I wanted someone who knew the Disney Cruises very well since it is for a big extended family cruise.

we use Pure Magic Vacations - have booked disney, rccl and norwegian cruises with them...good Canadian agency - Carrie is our TA www.puremagicvacations.ca

one advantage to TA if you're from Ontario is that you are protected by TICO if anything goes wrong - not usually an issue with Disney but still a consideration for us...
