The Crew

Tony ……………….Driver and general gofer
Theresa…………….Scrapbook shopper extraordinaire
Peggy (my mum)…..I’ll go on anything as long as it’s not upside down or has big drops .
Zena (my aunt)…….Ditto

We finished packing, said goodbye to the condo and checked out by 9.30.

We headed to Celebration for breakfast and managed to find the place we had eaten at with the children in 2006. The Market Street Café has had a few changes to the menu but it was still lovely. I had an omelette with square cut fries and everyone else had a toasted sandwich with scrambled egg and bacon.

No one really fancied looking around the shops so we went to play a round of golf at Fantasia gardens. I chose the Fairway course which was really hard, next time we’ll opt for the easier one.

After the golf we decided it was time to eat again so we went to Perkins as Theresa needed another fix of pie before we left the country.

I had the Banana Cream, Theresa had peanut Butter Silk and Mum and Zena went for the Lemon Meringue.

We had a look around Goodings and bought a few bits and pieces to take to the Camping Dis meet the following weekend.

We then headed for the airport and arrived with plenty of time to spare. The queue at check in was huge. While we were waiting a man was walking up and down and suggesting to people who looked like they had a lot of baggage to purchase the double baggage allowance as they would have to pay a lot more if they didn’t. He even pulled them out of the queue so they could check the weight of their bags before they got to the front. One family saved over $250 by doing it. I’ve never seen this done before and I was impressed that the company were not out to make a killing for a change. So a round of applause for TCD ( excel airways). We moan about so many things regarding airlines (me included), I think it’s about time we also mentioned a plus.

We actually made purchases from the duty free for the first time ever. Theresa and I are not really drinkers but I got a bottle of Southern Comfort Reserve and Theresa a bottle of Smirnoff raspberry as she wants to have a go at making the Skyy berry martini, OK it’s not Skyy vodka but hopefully it will be near enough.

The flight home was on the same plane as we had flown out on so the seating was just as tight and just as uncomfortable (see I said I can moan about flights as well as the next man).

When we arrived at Gatwick our cases were almost the very last ones off. I think it was because Callum’s guitar had been marked as fragile. It made it in one piece so it was worth the wait.

As we were going through customs there were several sniffer dogs outside and as we got inside we saw a lady had been pulled over and the customs officer had a carrier bag which he told her he was just taking away to be weighed!:scared1:

We met Maple Manor with our car but they wanted to charge us £96 not the £80 we had be told when we booked it. Luckily I had the E mailed confirmation on me and after a phone call from the driver we were on our way and only paid the £80. I did give the driver a tip as it wasn’t his fault.

We dropped Mum and Zena off and my Dad had cooked us all lunch, unfortunately he hadn’t told us he was cooking for Theresa and me and we had already arranged to meet Theresa’s parents and sister for lunch so we had to leave without eating it. It was a shame because it all looked very nice.

Best Bits
Dolphin Swim
Relaxing by the pool and bar.
Anna Maria island
Sheplars & Bass Pro
Mocha at Joe Muggs!

Worst Bits
Very cramped plane (totally unsuitable for long haul)
Poorly prepared meals at two of our favourite Disney restaurants

sounds like Theresa did a LOT of stash shopping, considering the excess weight! good for her! :thumbsup2

Have we got another couple of Florida converts?

Kev

We opted for the Fairways course when we played Fantasia Gardens in January because a big group was just heading out on the other course. BIG mistake! "Difficult" has to be the understatement of the year - it's almost impossible! :rotfl:

Thanks for the trippies, Tone. I especially enjoy all the photos. :thumbsup2

Really enjoyed reading your report this afternoon, Tony! I'm sitting here with a lousy headache but you brought a little bit of Florida back into my life and I feel loads better - thank you...
