T-Shirt Transfer Question

Has anyone ever used the dark T-shirt transfers on white T-shirts before and if so how did they come out? I have some dark T-shirt transfers left over from the last time I made T-shirts and I am making new ones for our upcoming trip. I am using white T-shirts though and was wondering if I really had to go and buy the transfers for white T-shirts or if the dark ones would work fine.

What is the difference between the two?

I personally use dark transfers for ALL my shirts - including white. The colors on a dark transfer are much more vibrant and in my opinion look better.

The difference in the transfers is this:

The dark transfers have a white background and are more of a matte finish
Light transfers have a clear background and are more shiny.

I just did this and it worked great! I tried the ones for light fabric and they were horrible. The backing wouldn't even come off. I would definitely recommend the dark for even white tshirts. The colors are so much better also! Good luck.

I can testify to the wonderful transfers Amy has. I've bought 3 or 4 sets from her over the years.

When I used Avery, you could see the wear after 2 washings. We did ours in December, and have washed them weekly (not even how it is recommended), and they look great. It's been 8 1/2 months, and we wash and dry them, look as good as new.

Thanks everyone for letting me know I can use the dark on the white T-Shirts. I actually just washed my T-shirts and am getting ready to make them. I was hoping for some tips though because the ones I made for our trip last year didn't even hold up after one wash. Once I ironed on the design I did not was them before they were worn. I was just too worried all my hard work would be ruined.

So, any tips to getting your transfers to last or any steps you take that are not part of the directions would be great to know!
