T-Rex

What do you want to know? I live in Kansas City and have eaten a few times at the one and only T-Rex (the prototype if you will) Restaurant. We were in DTD last week and the construction boards are still up and the exterior Dino's have not been placed.

I was wondering if anyone had heard a firm date yet, although, I imagine we won't hear that for awhile yet.

Thanks!

The Mickey Monitor (AP newsletter) says is will open in Early Nov. Take it for what its worth.

Please! Can you tell me more about it. And how does it compare to RFC???

Our DD has her heart set on RFC (kind of a tradition here) but we're wanting to try out T-Rex. Any information you can give me will make this decision easier!

I've looked at their menu online on their website, but I dont have a good idea about the "atmosphere" at T-Rex.:)

released photos of one of th large dinosaurs being trucked into DTD. With the release Disney stated they were hopeful about opening the restaurant in mid to late October. Nothing official - just hope.

Dis updates just listed Oct 14 as the opening date. That means that by the time it really opens, it should be plenty of time for us to hit it in mid Nov!:cool1:

I of course can't be sure if any changes will be made to the "new" location in DTD but my overall impression is RFC is better (we have one of those in town too)!! RFC's "show" every 15 min. or so is much better than what is done at T-Rex. I've toured the entire restaurant and eaten there 3 times but only one room appeals to me and it is often closed (ours is 2 story and the top floor closes when not busy enough). Nothing really moves during the show, they just dim the lights and crank up the volume, it's really not spectacular.

There are some interesting concepts like eating inside a dino, his side is cut out so you can get to your table, but once inside you can't see any of the restaurant. Like all things disney there are lots of ways to separate you from your $$ here like an extra pay dig site/jewel panning area. The neatest dino they have is a skeleton of a dino that you can make move, but it will cost you $2 to do so.

The food, however, is just fine. We probably ate the cheapest anyone has ever eaten there when ordering water, one adult pizza for 4 kids to share (just like RFC--the kids meals are overpriced as this is who will be coming to dine), and a sampler appetizer as an entree (still plenty to share with the kids also) and we took leftovers home. On other trips I've eaten fish tacos that were good and the kids had dino chicken nuggets-seem very similar to the frozen ones you can get at any store and make at home anytime, disappointing. The adult entree prices don't seem as overpriced as the kid's meals.

The exterior of T-Rex is worth a look and has photo ops if you're in the area and don't want to eat.

we were there 8-11 thru the 18th, and it didn't look anywhere near ready.

October 14th is the date it opens...They are not taking ADR at this time...They said they are starting with walk-ups and ADr will be added soon....
