Hello :goodvibes
My family and I are going to Disney in the fall and it's almost time to make ADR's! We all think T-Rex looks like a lot of fun but I was wondering if it might be too scary for my niece (who will be newly 3) and nephew (who will be newly 1) :confused3 I can see my niece REALLY loving it but I could see it going wrong too, so I'm not sure, I need to know more about other people's experiences.

So has anyone been there? Do they do a whole thing where the Dinosaurs come to life like Rainforest Cafe? Have your kids been intimidated/freaked out by the Dinosaurs? And how loud is it?

Thank you!!!

T-rex wouldnt be scary for a one and three year olds. Though they might be scared of the loud sounds and every so often meteor showers. If you've ever been to rainforest cafe, it's the same company that owns rainforest cafe/t-rex. PS- it's a very good restaraunt:cool2:

Oh ok! When I was five I was terrified of Rainforest! They have that lightning and thunder thing going no and the animals come to life! It caught me off guard i didnt know it was going to happen and I figured T-Rex was owned by the same company so I was wondering if it was anything like that. Thanks very much for the input! I'm sure it is a great restaurant I HAVE to go one of these days!

I agree. I dont think they would be scared of the dinos, but it is VERY loud in there

Yep, if you've been to Rainforest, the 'meteor showers' at T-Rex are the same as the 'thunderstorms' at RFC. Every 15 minutes or so, flashing lights, rumbling sounds, dinos come to life and roar. It's very, very loud.

I was there this past August with DS11, DS 4, and DS 2, along with my teenage sister. We all enjoyed it! No one was scared. Actually didn't sit at the table much except when eating because the kids wanted to walk around and look at everything. We went for a lunch and it was pretty empty so we were able to walk around and look at everything.

One surprise was the food was good, better than Rainforest in our opinion. I got a burger and was pleasently surprised.

One thing if you are on Dining plan, when we were there it was not a Dining plan restaurant. We knew that before going, but someone next to us didnt and was a little upset.

have fun!

I agree with loud, so loud I asked the waiter if he could here what I ordered. He said yes but I couldn't even hear myself tell him.

You should be able to get seats in a spot outside the loudest interior room that will be a bit quieter.

DH and I went Sept 09, we did not have kids with us but were seated in the water/ocean room and it was not as loud in there nor as much light and movement.

We are considering taking our (week shy of 1)daughter there but DH thinks Rainforest would be too scary. If that helps.

We started going to RFC when DS was 3, and he HATED it. The noise was part of it, but he just didn't like the animals coming to life all around him. At 6 he was fine with it, but it just isn't true that ALL 1 and 3 year olds won't mind having animals coming to life all around.

But there are 3 or 4 different areas in the place. We were near the ice cave, and there were dinos that moved nearby. Thankfully they were all vegetarian dinosaurs. :) It didn't look like the ice cave had dinos in there (and it looked VERY cool in there).

At our local RFC the first time, we didn't even make it to the food arriving...DH had to take DS outside into the mall, while I got boxes for our food and paid. Every kid is different, and they have all sorts of mysterious thing going on inside their noggins, so be prepared that they might not be peachy keen with the place...

Yea! Exactly all kids are different and they do have crazy imaginations. I'm thinking maybe we'll skip it and save it for a trip when they're older. Maybe my sister and I will wander off one day and go for lunch or something

Thank you everyone for the descriptions and answering my questions! It helped a lot! :thumbsup2

My daughter was terrified when we went last year. She just turned 5 at the time. Poor child couldn't even eat her meal because of the meteor showers and the dinosaurs "looking at her".

The food was good though and my son who was 7 enjoyed himself very much :)

we go every trip and our kids love it. my son gets very afraid of loud noises and is terrified of rainforest but doesn't mind T-Rex

We took our kids there when my son was 5 & my daughter was 3. It all depends on your child. My 3 yr old daughter was fine with it. My 5 yr old son on the other hand, it was a NIGHTMARE!! He was sooooo scared. He pretty much hid under the table every time the dinosaurs moved & made noises, the meteor showers happened & when there was thunder. It was a very exhausting dinner. Not to mention NOISY!! It was very very LOUD in there. You could not talk to the others in your dining party with out talking VERY loudly. I came out of dinner with such a headache. The place is VERY cool though. I'll probably go back when I think my son can handle it.

We ate there my DD was 4 and my DS was 1. DD loved it and DS HATED it. The every time there was a metor shower he would cling to me hide his face. We ate and got out of there as fast as possible!

My 3 yr old [boy] loved loved dinosaurs, but hated hated hated them in real life! Even the still ones!

This reminds me of when the origional Jurasic Park came out, I took my son who was about 5 yeaqras old at the time and he watched the movie peeking out of his jacket that he had over his head. 2 years ago we tool him to T-rex and he was fine but 22 years at the time.:)
