T-Rex or Rainforest Cafe?

Do you know if you call directly to make a reservation if you call still use the dining plan?

Yes you sure can!!

My family had a great experience at T-Rex. My husband had some sort of salmon dish that he declared was the best meal he has the entire trip. All 3 kids and DH are insisting we go back on our next trip. I personally thought it was dark, loud, and my food was decent but not great. But the kids loved it, and that made it worthwhile!

First off T-Rex is newer and much better even the food in my opinion. If you want to cut the cost somewhat join the Landry's club for 25.00. This is a one time fee BUT it is given back to you to spend at the restaurant. The good thing about it is first, you get priority seating and never have to wait more than 15 minutes no matter how long the line. This is completely true as we have done it several times in the midst of the high season. Also they will give you 25.00 to spend on your birthday. If your birthday coincides with your vacation it is well worth it. We have a couple of cards so that no matter when we go someone has a birthday and we get the extra 25.00 off...no strings. You can also use the 5.00 coupon from Entertainment so it brings passable food down to a reasonable price.

Thank you so much for this idea; my question is, do we have to make reservations before hand? or if we have existing reservations can we still use our landry's rewards?
We will be there over my birthday (and are not yet members) so it is looking like it may be worth the purchase!

I'd go with T-Rex. You can go to Rainforest Café in various places throughout the country. There are only 2 T-Rex restaurants, one in DTD and the other in Kansas City. We went last November and found the service to be exceptional. Server was attentive, managers checked on our dining experience, etc. All without being annoying about it. If you join the Landry's Select Club, you get a welcome reward that offsets the cost of joining. This also puts you at the top of the waitlist when checking in. I was unable to get a reservation in advance, so we went anyway, I put my name in at the booth, and we were probably seated 5 minutes later with a party of 5. Food was decent.

However, I was surprised that my 3.5 year old son did not enjoy the experience. He likes dinosaurs and the theming in the restaurant is quite fun, but it terrified him. And this was a child who was brave enough to go on the Tower of Terror multiple times on the trip (he is very tall for his age). He actually said, "I want to get out of here." It was quite surprising. So I'd suggest maybe walking a small child into the restaurant first to make sure they are okay with it, or not wheeling them in while asleep in the stroller and having them waking up to load sounds of dinosaurs. That was probably our mistake. But the baby enjoyed it!

You don't have to, but you should. T-Rex is full and gets booked up fast. If you are going to RFC, go to the one at AK, not DTD, its much quieter and less busy and the theme there has a bigger feeling. But for both of these don't worry about making ADR's too early. If you are spending a day at DTD, you can go to whichever restaurant you want and make an ADR that day for dinner in the morning.

Usually for the day at AK, I go in the morning and through the entrance to RFC make an ADR for around 30 min after park closing and then return for dinner when its time.

You can make reservations via the normal Disney ADR process online/on phone with cast member, or call the restaurant directly. I have heard some instances where Disney does not have availability, but when you call the restaurant they do. You have the option of skipping the line with the Landry's club, like the previous poster mentioned, and that is if you do not have a reservation. The rewards card can be used at any meal, reservation or walk in. You also get a birthday reward, if it happens to be around your birthday.

I went to T-Rex with a party of 10 and everybody enjoyed their food. I cannot say the same about rainforest or any other meal from that trip.

Beware: the portions are HUGE. Like Cheesecake Factory huge.

We like the food at both. When we go to Las Vegas we always eat at the Rainforest Cafe there, so at Disney we choose TRex since the atmoosphere is more unique to us.

Be sure to join Landrys Select Club if you go.

Would you prefer eating crappy fast food in a dinosaur themed environment or a rain forest type environment?
