Hi everyone,

I have read that the new T-Rex restaurant at DD is opening Oct. 12th or 14th? Somewhere around there. I do know that it is just a few days after I will be there. Any chance it will be open for a soft opening the weekend of the 10-12th? I know my nephew would just love it.

I don't know anything but I do know that RFC in DTD did a soft opening before the official opening date -- that was a few years ago (10 or more) but we knew the official date and were DTD a few days early and they had just opened so we took advantage of it.

The date is October 14th.

Thanks - I knew it was right after I leave, which is the 12th. Sorry for not having it exactly correct.

Anyone else think there may be a soft opening that weekend like a PP mentioned for Rainforest Cafe?

You could always try calling them! Here's a link to their site: T-Rex. If they still don't have the Orlando number, you could trying calling the corporate office, or the other location, and maybe they can tell you for sure! :)

I had read that they aren't taking any ADR's until 2009. I would bet they would have a soft opening before Oct. 14. As we all know there are always little adjustments that need to be made and I doubt they will want to be working those things out during a big grand opening gala. I would check when you are there and keep an eye out. Good luck!

I emailed them and they said they are opening in mid- october. no ressie until janurary. only the premium and wine and dine dining plans will be accepted.

Are they owned by Landry's, too, like RFC? If so, anyone know if they will accept RFC gift certificates?

I guess if I were there just before opening I'd check if there was a soft opening. Hopefully pixie dust is on your side and it is open a little early. :goodvibes

I guess I am wondering that if there is a soft opening, will they announce it before they do it? If they announced a date earlier than Oct 14, then wouldn't they just officially be opening early? By definition I thought a soft opening was period of time when a new restaurant, which may not be fully complete, is open for business but has not formally announced its opening.

We are leaving on the 14th. A soft opening would be awesome so I'm hoping too. :yay: Ds5 would LOVE this restaurant!

Does anyone know whether you will be able to do ADRs through Disney, or will you have to call them directly?

I've been following the T-Rex threads pretty closely, I haven't seen any official announcement, but another Dis'er posted their email from the company.

Reservations will be made directly through T-Rex according to that email.

I agree -- they are not going to announce if they are doing a soft opening - the only way to know is to walk by while it is going on - or if per chance someone knew someone who was working there and the word got out ... unfortunately I don't know anyone who is working there so I will just take my chances and do a walkby.

I called Disney dining again after readiing this post (9/12/08) and asked if they would be taking dining ressies for my trip during 10/18-10/27.

Disney dining once again repeated to me that they are not taking reservations for T-Rex at this time and probably will not until January 2009.

Just some food for thought about the ADR's if you needed to know.
