Hello all,

I live in SE Massachusetts, but found a good deal on SW, so will be flying to MCO from Providence instead of Boston. It has been years since I've been to T F Green airport. Can anyone give me a rough idea on how long the average time to get through security lines there? I know it is completely subjective, but am considering changing my flight to 6:30 in the evening and am wondering what you think would be the latest time I could get to the airport and still make my flight. I plan to allow three hours for driving and checking in etc. Does that sound like enough? It usually takes about 50 minutes to get to downtown Providence from my house if that helps.

Thank you for any help!

Sounds like plenty of time. Security in PVD usually isn't bad.

I'm in central Mass and TFGreen is almost 50 mins exactly from my house. I usually try to get there about 2 hrs prior. I've had a few close calls so I don't want any surprises. Once there was an issue on the ride down, another time there was a very long line at security. And it does take some time to get through SW checkin. So, I get there early and then grab a bite at the Dunkin Donuts and head to the gate.
I do love Green though...such a nice, user friendly airport. If you're driving down, use PreFlight parking. You can usually print out a discount coupon on their website. And their shuttle service is very effiicient.

I live 5 min from Green and fly about 10 times a year. There are very, very few flights out after 3pm, security line is almost non-existant at that point. If you are checking luggage, I would say the latest you could arrive and have a comfortable amount of time is 5:20. When I travel just carryon and in the morning when the line is longest. I arrive 45-60 minutes before my flight.

I live about 40 min from Green and love that airport. It's just the right size so it's not overwhelming. I would like if you're at the airport by 5 or 5:15 for a 6:30 flight that should be plenty. I leave next week for a 1:45 flight. Wondering how the lines will be myself since i'm usually an earlybird flyer!

Busy in the morning and gets quieter for the rest of the day. You can look on their website and see that there are maybe 5 or 6 flights in the 1/2 hour on either side of the 1:45. Not a huge volume to push through TSA.

Thank you everyone for the information. Sounds like 3 hours should do the trick.

Thank you for the help!
