I gave my wife her 10th Anniversary gift last night: a surprise trip for 6 nights to WL! We honeymooned there, so it's a sentimental favorite. We were just to the World last summer, but we had our two kids and my mother-in-law with us. We had a blast, but it's not the same as an adults only trip.

Here's how I surprised her, for those of you who enjoy details:

Yesterday was my 35th birthday. I'm big on parties, and I usually invite some people over to celebrate my big day. This time, everyone was in on the surprise. I even bought a cake that said "Happy Anniversary" instead of "Happy Birthday." My wife thought that I ordered a cake that said "Happy Birthday Me." When it was time for cake, I asked her to open the box. She started to laugh like crazy. She simply thought that I ordered the cake that way to be extra goofy.

Then I got the candles out; I had the "1" and "0" candles. Still thinking it was a joke, she put them on as "01." She did not put it together that our anniversary was 15 days away!

Next, I gave her a package. I wrapped up the bag that we used in the parks last year. It's a small guide bag with pockets for water, credit cards, etc. I placed a water bottle on one side and sunscreen on the other. She was laughing hysterically by now. She still had no clue. She thought that I was giving her stuff we already had because it really wasn't our anniversary.

The inside pocket contained the 2007 Passporter, filled out with all of our information and containing our documents. She didn't even open it! She said, "Oh, a planner for our next trip. That's nice." And then she put it down. She reached in the bag once more and removed the custom park maps I ordered. Still clueless. She asked me where I got such nice maps. I told her a rest stop. She didn't even see the "For the Baker Family Trip" printed on each map. The last thing in the bag was a Disney luggage tag. At that point she started to figure it out.

She was pretty much shocked that I was able to pull something like this off. She couldn't sleep last night, she was so excited. I slept like a log after having trouble for weeks because of my excitement.

Anyway, we're off in 10 days! Yippee!

What a wonderful gift! She must be so excited, and you too! Have fun, and Happy 10th Anniversary! Can't wait to hear all about the trip!

By the way, how are the kids reacting to not going? I would love to have an anniversary trip some day, but I wouldn't know how to break it to my kids!

Well, the kids were just there last summer, so they didn't seem so awfully sad. They are also excited about sleepovers at the grandparents'. They'll probably be spoiled more at home than they would have at WDW.
