SYR to MCO Tickets

Hello again all you CNYer's.

I was just on the syracuse.com forums. Someone is selling four tickets Syracuse to Orlando for $500.

Heck, I wouldn't mind taking the kids out of school a couple of days and going myself! Oh well. I can only dream.

Come to think of it, they are Trans-Meridian tickets, so that would be Sanford not MCO???

LOL. I hear ya. DH and I were thinking about taking a weekend getaway trip to Vegas. Even with all the negatives we've heard about TMA on this board, we were still tempted to fly with them. I think it would have cost a total of $440 (with taxes and fees) round trip for both of us! And that is a direct flight. You leave at, I believe, 9:00 a.m., and you are in Vegas by 11:00 a.m.

Sigh, it looks like we aren't going to ask grandma and grandpa to watch the two boys and two dogs anyway. No weekend escape. Sniff-sniff.

I may be making a lot of trips to Florida throughout the foreseeable future, and was counting on the cheaper, nonstop flights out of Syracuse. What has gone wrong?

Thanks for the bump! I just read that thread. Wow - definite food for thought there! It's no secret that SYR is one of the most expensive airports in the US, and TMA could build a loyal following if they get their act together; unfortunately, it doesn't look likely.

I thought that you couldn't transfer airline tickets, especially for security purposes.

I still feel happy with our Delta flights in Nov at $212.50 each. Our layover in ATL is just over an hour both times and the actual flight times worked great for us.

Guess I jumped the gun on the transferring part. I just read the post and it did say you could transfer the tickets. Who feels secure about that? Not I.

Has anyone checked out Jetblue our of SYR? We are travelling Sat 10/4 through Sunday 10/12 and the tickets were $202 per person. I thought that was pretty good, and it gets us to MCO at about 3:30.

I didn't even know JetBlue flew out of Syracuse (shows how often I fly)! That's certainly worth checking out. Thanks!

I've never flown Jetblue, but I've only heard positives about them. As far as the price goes, that is good, but then again, this is a cheap time of year to fly.

I'm looking to head south during the February school break. If I could get $202 tickets, THAT would be a feat. LOL. Last year I had to take the kids out of school for three days so that I could get affordable airfare. I think we paid (after taxes and fees which equalled about $50 per person) $220 per person.

From anyone that I know that has flown Jet Blue, they really like it. It stops over in NYC. The planes have good room and I believe everyone has their own tv. The only thing I didn't like about it was the actual times it flies out of SYR and MCO. The times never worked for us.

Another option is to drive to Albany & fly southwest non-stop to Orlando. My sister did this over Memorial Day weekend & loved the non-stop part .

It's true that the times can leave a bit to be desired. Since we live about 1+1/2 hours from Syracuse, the 11:15 take off time will work out well for us (so we don't have to get up at the butt crack of dawn). The flight does stop at JFK but we stay on the plane, we just pick up more freaks. I'm thinking we might stand less of a chance of losing luggage if we don't have to transfer planes.

I'll let you all know how it is after we get back (this is our first time with Jetblue).

I just booked a flight from SYR to CLT thru this company-they got me the cheapest price! Even cheaper than all the web sites that say they have the cheapest price....240.00 Round trip...they have a 25.00 fee but it was still 50.00 cheaper than other sites including AAA!!!

What a small world this is...some of you are right in my back yard!!!!

Hi All,
another CNYer here and I hate the high cost of airfare too.
I have Delta booked for Oct at $212.50 per person with great flight times so I was ok until I started searching other airports ie Albany and Rochester. Of course both have lower fares but my tickets were already bought. But like most of you another trip is in the works so I looked at Delta out of Rochester for May 2004 and found round trip to MCO for $130 per person. Of course I took it. I extened my oringal plans by a day because of the flight times I choose. I am flying out of Rochester at 1:35 pm arriving MCO at 6:21pm. This is a good thing because Roch is about 90 minutes from here and I won't have to leave at 3 am and drive with all the overnight truckers on the thruway. And the trip coming back leaves MCO at 1:05 arriving ROC at 5:53 pm and still be home by 8. So the savings is worth the drive. I can leave my car at ROC airport for $45 for the week.
$130 x 2 =$260
$45 parking=$45
total $305 out of Rochester

Syracuse $230x2= $460
parking $45 =$30
total cost SYR $490

SAVINGS of $185 and thats alot of Mickey ice cream bars.

So Rochester will get my business next May and maybe again in Sept 2004 if the prices are that good again.

So much for TMA helping out CNY with air travel. And Southwest out of Albany makes it hard too because they release their schedules so late and who can afford to wait and take the chance of ending up with nothing.

Don't forget to try Southwests website for flights out of Rochester, Buffalo, and Albany. They have gotten as low as $49 each way with great flight times recently, though they have went back up now. I checked a week or so ago and they had flights from Rochester for around $128 round trip.

The Rochester, Buffalo, Albany thing doesn't help us though. Having 2 young boys I really don't want to have that much more added onto travel time. The flight is difficult enough. So, for us, high airfare is better for the convenience. We also have Delta at 212.50 in November and I really think that is fine.
