but I was flipping the channels last night and was unable to change the channel.
I don't know what was worse..the pig sty house or the fact that the mother in Jersey was made a nut by her mother and has now turned her daughter into a nut!
The house was fine and she is on her hands and knees cleaning! Oh..I was screaming at the TV!
And the son!! OH MY!! Crying because he can't do his hair gel!

"different". The thing that bothered me the most (and I've only seen 2 episodes of this show) is that the clean freak wife acted appalled by a dust bunny. She carried on and cried hysterically about not being able to clean 5 hours a day. Hey, I work at least 8 hours a day. Anyone who expects me to keep my house (with 3 DDs in 3 different age levels) the way she did is going to be sadly disappointed. The ants were definetly nasty, though. What I don't understand is how the holistic wife was able to hire a housekeeper- I thought both she and the dad were home together all day- did either one of them work? The clean wife is welcome to come to my house and clean it, if it makes her feel better. She better not cry, though.

the ants were crawling on dirty underwear!!!

That bathroom was GROSS!!!

But the Wife's mom freaking out about the house being "disgusting" was over the top!

I really feel sorry for the daughter...I see a pattern

I swore I wouldn't watch--the shows are all pretty much the same, anyway. But, I got sucked in.

I honestly don't understand someone being THAT obsessed with cleaning. How sad that the most important thing in your life is a clean house. She, her mother, and daughter would have a heart attack if they could see my home! LOL! It's not as bad as the other one, but it's not spotless and never will be. I have too many other interests.

I watched. I think this show focuses on cleaning too much - they keep picking people that are too extreme in that area. They show such extremes that I think people get a really wacky idea of what SAHM's do(or don't do).

As much as I found myself judging the bad behavior of the Stallone boy, I was even more bothered my the invisibile children in the other family. They kind of got overshadowed by their dad and mom's unusual behavior.

The clean freak's husband turned out to be a pretty nice guy. From the previews I thought he was going to be a jerk. That son was the biggest brat though. Crying over the fact that he had to pick out his own clothes??? And the whole hair gel thing--he had hardly any hair! He was definitely very spoiled.

There never seems to be any middle ground with the families they choose for this show. I guess it wouldn't be very entertaining if they were more middle of the road.

I was wondering as well how the "dirty" mother could afford a housekeeper. If I remember correctly, she didn't work and her (now) husband sat around meditating and writing poetry all day. Where does the money come from?

The clean freak's mother was just plain scary! The way she ran her finger over the stove and said "that's grease!" in a horrified voice was really bizarre. Grease on a stove just used to cook on is not that unusual.

It was also interesting that she was encouraging the kids to watch TV and play more video games. She acted like it was almost a necessity that they do that every day.

I think the holistic couple may run their own business.

I think the funniest thing about this episode is that the "clean freak" could easily be my ex-MIL. She brought her kids up just like that too.!! Notice I said EX?!

What is funny is that I actually know many women like the NJ "clean freak" mom! I felt soo bad for the daughter. I think there is a little OCD going on in that house! I mean she really could not relax if the house had any bit of dirt. Thats very sad.

I really liked the meditating mom! I though she really did a great job with that big Italian dinner she had to cook and I think it was great of her to try and get the son away from the TV and into reading more. Plus she had a good attitude and did not seem to be judging the family, just showing them a different way of life. But yuk! The tofu meal she made..I don't think I could have stomached that! She was funny though, when she said it was not like she was feeding pork to Muslums! It was just broccoli!

Did anyone else think the NJ mom looked and acted like Carmella Soprano? But at least Carmella has a cleaning lady!

The kid was GAGGING on broccoli...what the heck..it is a vegatable..I know..not a big favorite, but I would have gagged on the tofu.
Ugh!!
The dirty couple's house was outta control. The bathroom made me gag!

Yep the ants and the bathroom were YUCK!!

That kid though, and the talking back, OMG!! I can't do my hair, I can't read the book, I can't dress myself, I can't........OMG he was way out there. The daughter on the other hand seemed much better, not as spoiled although she is definatly in the same clean obsession!

I liked the other mother as well, she tried her best, didn't get out of control with that kid and really put in an effort. How she stood there and took all the yelling from the mother was amazing. I would have turned around and walked out.

This show is really a guilty pleasure, I love it!!

The clean mom did seem to have some OCD/control issues. Her son was spoiled rotten. I'm glad the dad was putting him in his place. The other place was just disgusting. You can be laid back all you want, but dirty is dirty. It looked like neglect the way they portrayed it. Do your own thing when you are older and the kids are gone, but when they are little most people would want to set a good example by showing them cleanliness, timeliness, work ethics, etc. I'm not saying spotless if they don't want that, but ants crawling on dirty underwear made me want to gag! The kids seemed ignored while the parents meditated. The clean mom's mother was a freak, rude and insulting. The meditating mom had just cooked and seemed to be a good sport about it. The MIL really owed the meditating mom an apology. Also the heavy little boy needs to eat more veggies and go outside to play. They are setting him up for problems with his health. I too wish they would find more middle of the road people, but then it wouldn't be so interesting I guess!;) I have only seen one other show with the rich New York lady who had services running her household/raising her kids. That seemed over the top as well. And THAT husband was a big jerk. At least this NJ husband was nice/polite.

that was the first episode I'd watched too...boy that kid was hilarious!! that's what made me stop to watch, a little 8 year old yelling about the mom's attitude:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I found that to be very funny...
glad he's not my kid though...
I told my mom I expected to be served pancakes in bed before I went to work-she was not amused

The son of the NJ family has some serious anger problems. I always wonder what the moms think when they watch the show. are they embaressed over the families behavior-mostly when they are rude or disrespectful. I do not think either of the moms were mean to the children in any way.

I think I was on the Monorail last June with the NJ family..either that, or their clones.

Also, did anyone else pick up on the NJ boy holding one of the
mickey-head-shaped pencils? It was when he was sitting at the kitchen counter during one of his hissy-fits.

Guilty pleasure for sure.

I must be missing out in my life. Every episode so far there has been someone getting "breakfast in bed." I haven't had breakfast in bed ever. What am I doing wrong! Then there is the other matter of "now you must sit on your tush for 3 hours straight." What!!!!??? I am missing something! The life lesson I learned form the show is you can sit on your tush if you are filthy rich or a total slob who likes to live in doo-doo. Hmmmmmm....

What got me was the mom did everything for her kids. The daughter got to "request" what she wanted for breakfast in bed. Oh come on! I don't even get breakfast in bed when I am sick let alone any other time! I was practically screaming at the t.v. watching this. That boy too was another thing. "I can't do this I can't do that." If he were my kid I would have said "you can do that because I said so and if you don't do it then you will go to school naked or with hair that is not gelled (sp?). And if you do not want to eat those vegetables then you won't eat at all." I know I am being way harsh, but rules are rules and that kid was a BRAT! His mother needs a lesson on how to raise them. Then the daughter cried because she would not get to watch t.v. every day. Get over it my friend! Life is not fair sometimes and she needs to learn that.
