Just a quick question - On the recent DisneyParks commercials you always see a child pulling the sword out of the stone. (I think you all know what I mean)

Is this only in Disneyland? Or is this also featured in the World? If it is there where can I find in in MK??

Thanks DISers!!! :goodvibes

It is on the south side of the carousel in Fantasyland in MK. It occasionally works too.

I heard sometimes your child can actually pull the sword out of the stone? Is this still true?

It still happens, but it is luck of the draw. DD's tried it at least half-a-dozen times, but no joy. Tried it last trip simply because there was a Photopass photographer stationed there and thought they may increase her chances. Nope.

pulled it out about three years ago. A CM came by a couple of minutes later and gave him a magical moment certificate naming him a prince of the realm. She told him he could pull out the sword because he believed in magic.

It was good timing for us. Our daughter had just finished BBB and we were waiting for our CRT time so she was getting a disproportionate amount of attention that morning. The certificate still hangs on the wall even though he would be embarassed today if it happened.

Yeah it is there. We have tried no less then 100 times. Never gotten it.

Luck is the key!

I think I've seen it happen about once in the last 15 trips.

Purely conjecture, but I expect it happens somewhat less frequently now that Merlin is no longer walking around or conducting the show in that area.

dd(5) just pulled the sword out of the stone last week :wizard:
DS (11) was SO baffled...he tried so hard but it didn't budge for him :lmao:

My kids pulled it out in June. Based on knowing how it happens (won't give away the spoiler), I had I good idea that it would work that moment, so I had them try it, and it did. :)
It is totally random and up to WDW to decide whether sword pulling will happen at a particular time. First instance in many trips when it has worked for us. The kids were over the moon happy!

My daughter pulled it out in July and it was the highlight of her trip. I wondered if it would happen because I saw several fantasy land cast members standing around the area. Don't know how it happens though. A huge group of college students cut in front of her and then when they saw her pull it out they were so shocked it was so funny! My daughter said it was harder to put the sword back into the stone than pull it out

It is luck of the draw (literally & figuratiely!). My son was able to draw the sword in 2007. It was such a wonderful magical moment and I cried so much because it was so emotional for me (big Arthurian Ledgend person here). The CM that helped create that moment is a truly wonderful person and is still our friend today.

Shame it only works for little kids- I would LOVE to pull the sword out of the stone.

Has it ever worked for an adult??

I would love to have my husband try....he already thinks he's the strongest man in the world and seeing his face would be totally priceless...he would die of embarrassment...plus maybe he would believe in the magic of Disney a little more...:rotfl2:

I always assumed it is weight triggered since only smaller kids can do it. One of the few things in Disney that the little ones can do that older siblings can't.

I won't give it away, but I can tell you that no this is not correct.
