HELP! :confused3 I want to switch to digital scrapbooking after about 3 years of traditional/paper scrapbooking. I've very tech-savvy, but don't know where to start.

1. What program should I buy?
2. Where to I find Disney backgrounds, art, quotes, etc.
3. How much will this cost?
(Yes, I may need to purchase a new computer to run this software. My laptop is old - 2000 - and I use only my work laptop at home. Obviously I can't use that to scrapbook! Is there anyway to load, install, & run such a program from a portable storage device like a Flash or external hard drive, or do I need the new computer for the processing speed?) Thus,
4. What hardware/RAM/storage capacity do I need? (I usually store all of my photos on CD.)

Please contact me directly ASAP!!! :listen:
Thanks in advance,
Gayle

There are lots of sites now dedicated to DSing. Most DScrappers use Photoshop but many others including myself use Paintshop Pro. It doesn't really matter which program you use as there are tons of tutorials all over the web for all the software. As for storage, I highly suggest you get the largest external drive you can afford because you will fill it up quickly as there are thousands of free kits all over the net.

I think the three best places for you to start to learn are at DSS, SBB and Rakscraps. You can find links to each on my digital scrap page on my website (see below for the link).

There are not real disney sets and papers because of the trademark issues but Glenda Ketchum has made some Disney like themed kits here ( http://www.digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/index.php?manufacturers_id=38&main_page=index)
I bought all of them. There a re a few other designers who have done the same thing, I will need to search for those links.

You can also convert many kits to WDW themes, which is what I have also done.

Feel free to email me with questions, and check out the links section in my blog for many freebie sites and other info sites.

I prefer Photoshop but Elements has most of the features at 1/6 the cost. One program to keep your eye on is Adobe's Lightroom. It is still in testing (and is free to download) and the finished version should be good.

If you don't mind waiting a powerful computer is not a must but a lot of ram is. 1GB to 2 GB will help a lot, with a bunch of files open at once for scrapbooking.

I scan a lot of Disney material and use that for my digital layouts. There are some good Disney books at Michael's and Moore's, as well as at WDW and on the internet.
There are also Disney fonts available.

Once you start digital you will be hooked! The flexibility in layout is amazing! Then you get the wide printer for 12 x 12 pages, and on and on... ;)

Thank you so much for this link! I just switched to digital and have a ton of Disney pictures to scrap. I love these kits and will be buying them all.
