I made my reservation with Disney online and bought the insurance. If I switch to AAA will I cancel my Diney ressie? How does this work. I don't want to pay $119 in fees to save $250 with AAA. Can anyone tell me how this works? Thanks.

I dont really know how "it works", but I had a ressie with Disney, never put down a deposit....it will expire in 12 days.
Yesterday I joined AAA and made a ressie with them, I did not have to get the insurance (I never buy it). Disney quoted the insurance to my agent in the price, we told them to remove it.....$119.
I would think you get a full refund if you are far enough out from your trip, even the insurance $$$..
My AAA agent told me to cancel my other ressie on my own, she couldnt do it.
Just call Disney and ask them the amount of cancellation fees if you cancel, tell them you are booking with AAA.....they might able to call your AAA ressie up and transfer the deposit.....I would hope....

OK, I try giving them a call. I have already paid about 1/2 of the trip so I really don't want to lose anything. Thanks.:thumbsup2

I dont think you get the insurance back....however it is possible to transfer your reservation to aaa, then they can make whatever adjustments and hopefully that keeps you from forfeiting your insurance. You would need to contact an aaa agent and make sure that will work as well as that they are willing to do it for you. I'm not exactly sure how the transferring the reservation works but it involves you contacting disney and letting them know you want to give control of your reservation to aaa. Dont cancel what you already have until you are sure you are getting what you want, and hopefully this will work without you having to cancel it at all.

I recently heard some advice on purchasing trip insurance, which was that if you are going to get it, wait until the latest possible time to do so. That way you can change your plans without having to worry about how it will affect the insurance. I know -- not much help for this situation, but perhaps for the future.

You won't get the Insurance back, we had a reservation for November and had to cancel due to our youngest DD being very ill and in and out of the hospital, I explained this to Disney and they still did not give us back our Insurance $$.........this trip we did not purchase it but will purchase it from AAA right before we go.
