Switching ressies & cancellations...

Just booked at BCV (My first DVC booking!) for two nights the week of Christmas, but I'm going to try to switch to VWL at the seventh month window. I'm sure it will be booked so I plan on waitlisting for a studio there.
Question-
If they call me within 30 days of my BCV ressie with an opening at VWL will they let me switch without being penalized?
(Cause I'd actually be cancelling BCV, these points woull then be considered holding points?)

Yes you can switch without being penalized, as long as the points required are the same or more. If the required points for the new reservation were less, then the leftover points would go into holding.

If you were able to get WLV you would not be charged when your ressies were changed, unless you used fewer points. In that case, the difference in points between the two ressies would go into holding. MS is usually very clear about that when you are changing your ressies, so you don't do something too stupid without knowing it.
