Guys, I am approaching the 7-month window in a couple of weeks and have never actually made a switch to a different resort. We currently have two studios booked at our home resort for 8 days. We hope to switch to a non-home resort (obviously) in a 2 bedroom for 8 days.

I am really lost as to how and what we need to do. I guess a lot of my anxiety is that I believe I can only book the first 7 days when the 7-month window opens, so that would leave that last day floating in the breeze for 24 hours. Is that correct?

Secondly, how would we go about making the change? I am fearful of waiting until the lines open to call in, as those hours could mean the difference in getting the room or not. It shows available as of now and I see no reason it won't be when the window does open... Thank you in advance!!

It depends which resort you’re planning on booking. Most of the time, the 2br are available for at least a couple weeks after the 7 month mark opens up. This is just from my experience, which is fairly limited. I don’t know how you would go about changing the reservation. I would guess either cancelling and rescheduling or try modifying it (?). I hope this helps in some way.

Would it be worth making a call before the 7th month mark to get insight on the best way to make the change? I agree that typically I have seen 2BRs available (especially actual 2BRs and not 1br + studio) but it could be worth a call now to get the best strategy from the inside!

Use the two browser method outlined in this thread: https://www.disboards.com/threads/m...the-process-can-you-go-ahead-of-time.3461485/

Note that if your seven month window opens in a few weeks, you are going to be in Fall Frenzy. All bets are off - especially if you are hoping to switch to an Epcot or Magic Kingdom resort - from October 1st through mid-January in terms of availability. What is there will book fast, especially studios and two bedrooms.

You should be able to add the eighth day the day after you book the original seven, but I'm not positive.

Yes, the 8th day will be at risk for 24 hours (well, 25 hours, really, since you'll need to call to add it unless the whole trip is still available.

If you need the points from the first reservation in order to secure the second, then you're only option is the two-browser method.
