We'll be switching resorts midway through our trip this year for the first time. Traveling with 3 boys. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips to make it easier. I'm planning on packing one suitcase for the first half of the trip and another suitcase for the last half. Anybody have any other suggestions? Would you even bother unpacking if only staying 3-4 days in one resort?

I never unpack my suitcases, I just live out of them, it seems to be much easier and another reason I do that I don't like putting my clothes in a drawer that others have used, called me anal when it comes to things like that but I am. :D

With 3 kids I would think it would be easier to unpack. Better than having them go through the suitcases looking for their clothes every day. Or if you don't want to, you can just lay their clothes out every day. I fell more at home if I can put the clothes in the drawers and then put the suitcases away. I haven't given any thought to the cleanliness of the drawers themselves, but would be more concerned with cleanliness elsewhere in the room. If I saw a dirty drawer I wouldn't use it (or would have mousekeeping clean it), but I haven't had that happen...yet.

Just keep everything organized--pack up anything you've bought as you bring the things into the room. Bring laundry bags or use the little ones supplied (I bring mesh bags when I remember). A few minutes organizing your stuff every evening will help to keep things together so you don't have a lot to do before changing resorts.

Which resorts are you staying at?

Thanks for the tips!!

I have all the boys' clothes packed right now in ziplocs. Read that tip in another thread and it sounded good. Just toss each boy a bag each morning. But now I'm afraid of wrinkling. The clothes seem awfully crammed into these 1 gallon bags. I'm wondering if I should take the clothes all back out and iron them and repack without the ziplocs. But I originally thought the ziplocs would be great for living out of a suitcase - nothing would get messed up. I always hang my clothes in the closet as soon as we check-in, but I'm the only one in the family who cares about having non-wrinkled clothes :)

Tigger&Belle - we are first staying at POP and then moving over to Royal Pacific.

I am just bouncing with excitement - can't wait!!!!!!! But am a little nervous about moving between hotels and wondering if it's going to be a lot of work & hassle. I HATE packing and repacking..........

Hi Threeboysmom

I am also a self-proclaimed princess and mother of three boys!

I am also about to switch resorts for the first time (leaving in 8 days. Poly to BC)

I am also contemplating the ziploc theory!

I was wondering how the clothes would fit. (You are already packed?! You are waaaaaaay ahead of me!) Last year we took our two oldest boys for a week and I just layed out a shirt flat on the bed, put a pair of shorts, underwear, and socks on top, and kind of rolled it all up. It worked out pretty well. Then I packed their bags with the clothes they would wear last on the bottom and the clothes they would wear first on top. Honestly, it worked out fine. You might try that!

Good luck and have fun!:earsboy: :earsboy: :earsboy:

We split resorts last year for the first time and it went so well that we decided to do it again when we go in 2 weeks. I was apprehensive at first because I do like to unpack and settle in the room, but it went OK. I did try and keep the clothes split between the 2 suitcases as you mentioned, and that seemed to cut down on the unpacking/repacking. I also use the ziplock bags and swear by it. Yes, the clothes look a bit smushed and I too am an anal-wrinkle-obsessed mother, but I was able to live with it, There were a few wrinkles, but not many and once they had them on for a bit I hardly even noticed.

I pack large canvass totes and use these to store bulky items such as water bottles and such and it worked out. They moved all our groceries, many of which were in plastic bags, without any problems. In addition to our park backpack we packed a tote bag with swim wear and such to use while we waited for our luggage.

This year I fear I will be embarassed when they come to pick up our luggage. My sister is joining us with her 3 teenagers when we move over to AKL and as she is getting in late she has asked me to pick stuff for her on our town car grocery stop. As a small family of 4 we will look like hogs hauling all the soda, wine, beer and munchies from one resort to another!
