Switching out guests mid-visit

Being from Florida, we frequently have people switch mid vacation. So, one set of friends may join us Saturday through Tuesday, and another set Thursday through Sunday.

With the parking, I'm wondering how this will work now. Before we didn't even tell member services about the switch. We just kept the paper parking passes and the new friends used those.

Can't answer the parking question but we have revolving guests during half of our stays.
All guests are listed with their arrival and departure dates. Most use MDE. I love arrivals at airports not so much love for doing the departure. Twice snow storms interrupted arrivals and departures of our guests - simply called the front desk.

Interested in the answers.

Good to know about MDE!

Setting up different dates for Magical Express has always been possible. But are you saying you have different people listed for different parts of your stay? Or everyone on a single reservation because it doesn't put you over the occupancy?

We often have family arriving on different days but everyone is on the reservation for the duration. I'd think if it were different people during different parts then it would have to be multiple reservations.

I give Member Services the name of each guest. I provide flight numbers for arrivals and departures. I do ADRs with the same names that match the dates because there is no tomfoolery intended. I think I have been lucky (although not planned) that my guests in total have not exceeded room occupancy so even if there were overlap it was not going to be a problem. Had GV for one snow storm - if that had been a 2 bed, I would have had an issue.

It has always been one reservation.

We have the same scenario this trip, but I listed all guests on the reservation since we don’t exceed occupancy. I suspect you’d have to have separate reservations if total number of guests exceeds occupancy.

I’m wondering if it will be a problem requesting extra linens mid-stay. We’ve asked for extra towels many times, but never sheets.

Last October, my wife and I had a three night trip planned for a studio at Kidani village. The first night of our visit, my younger daughter and her friend were finishing up their Fall Break trip and stayed in our room. The second and third night, my older daughter and her fiance would be staying with us. At no time, would we have over 4 people actually sleeping in the room on any night. Since 6 is over the limit, we only put my eldest and the fiance on the reservation, and were going to let my youngest use an extra Magic Band of mine to get in the room. But then, the youngest and her friend needed DME to get back to the airport. I went to the front desk to explain the situation. The CM said not a problem, and made the youngest and her friend 'day guests' on our room. This allowed them to get DME. The CM also offered to get their Magic Bands programmed for our door, but we said that was not necessary. I don't recall how it happened, but we did get new towels for my older daughter and her fiance.

With all this said, just go to the Front Desk on your first days of the trip to explain the situation. They will help get all the behind the scenes things working for all the guests for the right times of the trip.

I would just wash them. Assuming it’s not actually extra, but rather sheets for the new people after the first group leaves.

I have a trip for a dance event in which my husband is only joining us for 2 days of a 5 day trip, so I did not include him in our package. I plan to make him a day guest upon our arrival (a day earlier than him). I called DME to ask if a day guest could use Magical Express and was told no. I guess the front desk was able to work a little magic for you. I will give that a try!

Interesting. It was the Front Desk person who gave us the solution of making them day guests so that they could take advantage of DME. Can you try calling reservations (vs Magical Express) to see what they say? And as they say, keep calling until you get the answer you are looking for. Worse case, visit the front desk on your arrival to try to set things up.

Yes, I will do that. Thank you!

We have a situation this year where my daughter and her boyfriend are leaving on Saturday and my friend and her daughter are joining us on that same Saturday. Member services said I could not get Magical Express for the arriving guests because that would exceed room occupancy. (My daughter has a 5:30 PM flight, my friend arrives around 11 AM) So we will try to set it up day of if possible and since she is not on the reservation I will giver one of my bands to get in the room if I am not around. Certainly not easy when plans overlap but I can see the point in trying to make sure folks don't exceed occupancy.

You might try emailing the info to DVC and see if they might split the reservation for you so you can get everyone set up. They may not but worth a try. If they did it would leave a slight chance of changing rooms but if you verify at check in about staying in the same room it's pretty unlikely you'd have to change.

If you have more than can be listed on a reservation, you can wash the sheets, etc. but how will the new guest enter the villa, since we no longer have cards? You would have to be with them. I wouldn't give my band, it has my credit card, my fast passes etc. on it. I've done it a couple of times in the past before the bands etc.

Please know that I am not doubting what anyone has been told. I am trying to figure out why the different responses (yes, I know that you can call 5 times, and get 5 different answers from 5 different CM's). I wonder if it has to do with Member Services not really dealing with the details of DME, where as the Front Desk deals with it all the time. Our Front Desk person could not have been any more accommodating, even wanting to allow our day guests to use their own Magic Bands for room entry.

So back to the OP's question about parking. If they are doing something with the license plates of the cars, I don't know if switching the parking pass from car to car would work. (and as an aside, I was at DVC resorts four different times this past year, and was never given a paper parking pass.) I think the best bet is to talk to Front Desk after arrival.
