Switching a cash ressie to a points ressie?

We made "cash" reservations a few months ago for a week in a 1bdr in BWV in January. At the time, we were not DVC members.

Since then, we have purchased a resale contract. The closing should be finalized in a week or so. Once it is, we'd like to use our points for the stay in January.

Will it be possible to "switch" the ressie from paying cash to paying in points? Or would we cancel the cash ressie and then hope to rebook the same room/time with points?

CRO inventory and member inventory are two different animals. Just because CRO has rooms available doesn't mean there are rooms available on points. I wouldn't cancel the cash reservation until you know for sure there is a 1BR available through member services.

Once you get your points, call Member Services and try to book your stay on points. Even if they don't have all of your nights, I would switch as many as possible to points and cancel the cash reservations for those nights. I'd then waitlist for the remaining cash nights as well as check in with Member Services every few days until you have been able to replace all of your cash nights with points. With a bit of patience, it can be done.
