Switcheroo from room only to package?

Hello hello!

I would like to book a package for the summer of 2008. I'm assuming these won't come out until perhaps the summer of 2007?

Is it worth booking a room-only reservation and switching to a package later? I've read in some threads that this is a good idea, and I've read in others that packages and room-only ressies are from two different inventory. Any suggestions?

Also... when would I be able to start using a TA? They wouldn't know the 2008 details yet either, would they?

Because you can cancel without penalty much later for a room-only, that sounds like a good plan. I think you won't actually be switching your reservation from room-only to package... you'll be cancelling and re-booking a separate reservation.

Make sure you check the cancellation windows and the payment policies before you do this... I know they're substantially different for room-only and packages, but I can't tell you the details except that I always book room-only so that I don't have to pay for the whole thing in advance!

You can book your hotel whenever you want, the rates will not be out until later this year. Switching to a package once they come out is not a problem. If you are trying to book a resort like the Contemporary I would suggest booking your room right now, as sometimes those rooms are difficult to get.

As for a TA.....if you are going to use one, why not use one now? I can recommend someone for you if you would like, just PM me. She is Awesome!!
