Hubby, two sons aged 14 and 3, and myself -- were booked at Swan for 7 nights (8/19 - 8/26) through AAA. Went to pay off the balance due and discovered the Fairy Tale Pkg. We saved over $400 by switching to BWI -- a good thing! We have never stayed in WDW before, but definitely wanted a deluxe boardwalk resort. I think my older son will enjoy the area and have a chance to venture out on his own. After much research in choosing the Swan, will we love BWI??? I just don't see too many posts for this resort.

Your thoughts, comments, experiences (good or bad) will be greatly appreciated.

BWI

Hi, sweet tooth,
We, too, did exactly as you have done - switched from the Swan to the BWI. We had the teacher's rate at the Swan, so with the FTP there was only a $14 difference, but had stayed at the Inn twice before and loved it. There is only a five minute walk between the two resorts. You have , in my opinion, (my wife says I never have a humble one) chosen a great location: a short walk or boat ride to two parks, many great places to eat and to be entertained. We leave in 16 days. Hope your trip is a magical one!! Bob

Bob,
Thanks for your quick reply - and an encouraging one at that. You are lucky to be going soon, I can't wait!!!! In your past stays, have you had breakfast at any of the other BW resorts and what did you think. People seem to enjoy Spoodles.

Thanks again and have a great trip!

Breakfast at the Boardwalk -

Hi, again, sweet tooth,
We are not big breakfast eaters, but according to what I have read on theses boards - great, aren't they? - the Character breakfast at the Beach Club is excellent, as is Spoodles. If you are not into a big meal in the AM, the Bellevue Lounge in the Inn has a good continental breakfast. It is also a great place to end the day at!! Don't miss Beaches and Cream for lunch or ice cream!!!! Too many places, not enough time.
The main pool at the BWI is also an enjoyable place to spend some time. There is nothing like staying on-site at WDW. You guys should have a fantastic time. Relax, enjoy, and try not to overdo. Bob

Lancaster -

One more time, sweet tooth,
I forgot to mention that we will be touring the Lancaster County area for a couple of days before our Disney trip. We are out there 2 or 3 times a year - it is our "get away from it all" place and have been doing that for about thirty years. This time, though, we will be having a family of four from Norway with us. They will also be going to WDW with us, and we are certainly looking forward to that experience! Bob

You did a good thing. We who LOVE the BWI like to keep the best kept secret to ourselves LOL!;)

DH and I stayed at the BWI in January. We loved it so much! It is definately our favorite resort. We had a standard view overlooking the courtyard and had a fabulous view of Illuminations every night! Truly magical! Everything is so convenient in that area. We ate breakfast at the bakery on the Boardwalk - they had quite a few choices to pick from. Then we would eat our food out on the BW at the little tables they have out there. Our DD loved all the birds that would come and try to steal her breakfast. You will have a wonderful time!!!

Another vote for the BWI!:D We just love that resort.
Be sure to read the BWI FAQ thread, lots of great info.

Have fun.:D

What's to worry about? You went from a nice hotel to a Deluxe Disney Resort AND saved $400!!!! WOW! Your older son will most certainly love the area. ESPN Club's arcade is a favorite with my son. The pool is great! The pools at the Swan & Dolphin are really not "themed" like the resort pools. Boardwalk's pool has a great slide - The Keister Coaster. The rooms at Boardwalk are very nice - you will feel like you took a step back in time - as opposed to Swan / Dolphin - which to me feel like "Hotel X". Spoodles for breakfast - or just a quick bite at the Boardwalk Bakery. ESPN for lunch or dinner - Spoodles for dinner (yummy!). The Boardwalk at night - just stroll around, do a little people watching. Trust me - YOU DID GOOD!!!

Thanks to all!!! I am feelin' great about the switch to BWI. But, darn, I did want to try the Swan's "heavenly beds" I have read so much about! Oh well, I am sure we will be so tired after a day at the parks we won't care where we rest out heads!

Bob, I will be doing the Lancaster day trip next week, mother-in-law coming to town and requested same. Train ride and lunch at Historic Strasburg Inn for sure!! It's only 25 minutes from home or us.

BWI, HERE WE COME!!
