Shape, that is. I am so frustrated! I'm returning the 2nd Land's End swimsuit I've tried. I've been shopping in the slenderizing section, trying the ones recomended for rectangle shapes (no waist).

They fit in the waist, but the tops are too big and the bottoms is baggy. If I try regular ones the lycra strains on my back and I know they won't last before they start to run.

Has anyone found any good suits for someone who is small chested and small reared with a thick middle? (I know, such a flattering discription - but that's the way I'm made!)

when I saw your thread title I was going to suggest Lands End....oops.
One thing I have done is to buy the pieces seperately.

I got a tankini from Lands End overstock and picked up one size larger on the bottom. I got the same style, fabric, color, etc. It worked.
I have a friend that likes those SwimIn stores...I don't have one near me, but they are a all swimsuit store that will help you find the right style for your shape. I wasn't my cup of tea, but if you have one it might be worth a try?

Good Luck.

I wish we had one of those stores! I've tried all the department stores around. Now I'm returning a second swimsuit to land's end - I feel kind of silly just ordering/returning, ordering/returning. Seperates (like the tankini)don't work either because the same problems still apply. I need big bottoms for my waist size, but they're baggy at the very bottom of the rear - I need tops big enough to fit my width, but the cups are expecting to be filled!

I see women all the time that are shaped like me. I guess I need to start stopping them on the street and asking where they find their swimsuits!

My current suit (which BTW is a little floppy up top and loose around the legs) has some "pulls" happening around the waist and it won't be decent much longer! ARGGGGH!

I feel your pain.....not so much in swimsuits but BRAS....if you are big around they expect you to have big ****s. And it's amazing a B cup gets bigger the bigger the diameter - now how does that happen. And nursing bras....forget about it :D Just wanted to wish you luck in the ultimate swimsuit search :D

lol, WDWorBust....that is totally me. Ever try to find a 42B?? or a 42A?? I don't know what would happen if I got any bigger around! Luckily after my weight loss I am down to 34's and 36's which are much easier to find in B's, and, becaue the B's are smaller, they fit better. Just cuz I have a big butt and tummy does not mean I have a big chest!!! I have always had small firm chest in the same shape no matter how big I got.

Back to topic of swimsuits, I have one that fits an apple like me. I got it at Pennys and it was not a slimsuit, because those get too tight in the waist. It is petite, so it stays s****** in the but and shoulders, even though I am not petite at 5'6. It wraps around and crosses in the front and fits well.

Another option (although maybe not fun to hear) I bought a maternity suit when I was pregnant with my son, and I just kept on wearing it after he was born. It had that extra waist room and it was still fit everywhere else too.

Good luck!!

I also played the Lands End order/return game, but finally was a winner. I love their suits, but had a time this year. I ended up with the swim shorts and two different tops to go with it. I learned after paying shipping once, that I could just return at Sears.
I have to get two different sizes. I'm small up top, but have a big butt and tummy. Nice!

I'm glad I'm not alone! I have the same problem with bras - I wear a 38B which is sometimes hard to find, but not impossible. I did return to Sears thankfully! I guess I'll try again with another suit.

I actually saw some suits that looked promising at Walmart so I'll try those first - you can buy seperates. The kids were with me so I'll have to go back and try some on later this week. Maybe a cheap suit would be the way to go since I hope to lose two sizes.
