Could someone who has done the Anguilla Dolphin and Stingray Encounter please report? It is expensive---but our DSs ages 8 and 5 have their hearts set on swimming with dolphins. Do you avtually get to swim with them--or is it just a token 5 minutes in the water--then you have to get out? Is it boring for kids---it is a long day--and I am worried that our 5 year old won't want to sit still and listen to an educational spiel about dolphins when he could be swimming?!!!
Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated.

We are doing this excursion in a few weeks. From what I have been told you actually get in with the dolphins and stingrays. You get to pet, swim, feed them (etc) but you do not get to ride the dolphins. If you do a search "anguilla dolphin encounter" there are a few posts including my questions and the answers I rec'd a few weeks ago. It does sound like a bit of a long day but half of it is beach time. (Our kids are 6 and 10.) The beach is beautiful. We went to this beach area in Anguillla a number of years ago. We are hoping for good weather for this exc. which will make it a great day to us! Keeping my fingers crossed!

If you are interested in this exc., supposedly it books very quickly. I called the first minute of the first day and got it. I have been told by a few DCL cast members that we are very lucky to have gotten this.

Hope this helps.

Maminnie,

Thanks for your input! I will do a search of the posted archives--and see what I find.

How and when did you book this? Who did you call? Can't you book it before your cruise? We are DVC members--do we call DVC to book?

I see you're 65 days from cruising. Call the DCL number and ask for the excursion desk phone number. Call the exc. number and ask them what the first day you can book an excursion for your cruise; I believe it is 60 days. Ask them to tell you the exact date. I have found that everyone counts 60 days different and will give you different dates/answers. Also ask them what time the phone lines open. I think it is 8:00am. If you really want this excursion, call right at 8:00am as I have heard it books up really fast. (We also booked through DVC and booked our excursions right with the DCL excursion desk.)

They can also give you a description of the excursion; how long are the boat rides, how long with the dolphins, etc.

Good luck. We are really looking forward to it on our 4/17 cruise. We hope it is worth the time away from St. Maarten and the ship and worth the money.
