Would be interested to hear what people think about the swimming pools in the Disney Hotels.

I have been to the Disneyland Hotel indoor swimming pool which i found very small for such a large luxurious hotel. We did go down in the evening in winter after the park had closed but i was surprised how many children were up. It was also very noisy and i didn't see much swimming going on just jumping in and out and lots of splashing. Floats were available and there was i think a fairly shallow end, i could certainly touch the bottom standing up with shoulders and head out and i am only 5ft2. There were floats available. The jacuzzi was also very small and hard to relax with all the noise.

I have also been to the Newport Bay indoor swimming pool which i found to be so much better and more relaxed. There was hardly anyone else in it the two times we went and Mickey mouse visited the boat in the middle whilst we were there. Fountains go off every so often and it is quite a large pool. Floats again are available and there was a shallowe end. The jacuzzi is also bigger and very nice. The whole place has a wonderful view over the lake.

This June i am going to Sequoia Lodge, what is the swimming pool like there? Is there a shallow end, will i be able to stand up? Are floats available? I have seen pictures of the flume does this end in deep water? When does the outdoor pool open?

Also am hoping to go to New York in the future so what can you tell me about that?

I'm interested in the New York hotel pool as going in May and know for certain that my little mermaid will be in in every night.

When we stayed at the Newport Bay in 2006 the pool was horrendously busy and noisy for the 2 nights we were there.

The Davy Crocket ranch pool was also very noisy but great fun there but you had to queue and wait for people to leave before you could go in as it was so busy (May 2007) as they were very strict on numbers.

.

We stayed at the Hotel New York last week and were looking forward to using the pool. However......

The changing rooms are tiny.

The water is freezing cold. The first day I managed 30 minutes with my 2 kids but the other 2 days I sat on the side while they swam. The kids didn't seem to mind the cold but I did.

The pool is a uniform depth of approx 5'5" deep ALL the way. There is no shallow end. There are steps at both ends of the pool but there isn't a handrail around the edge. It's not an ideal pool for small children, weak swimmers or short people!

There were 2 "lifeguards" when we went but there weren't the most observant. I saw one jump in to rescue a child who had just arrived, climbed down the steps and then couldn't reach the bottom. I did see 2 parents jump in to rescue their own children while the lifeguards just chatted amongst themselves.

There is a hot tub but it was filled with children so it wasn't the most relaxing time and there is a small, 6 inch deep paddling pool on the right hand side.

There are lounging chairs round the pool and they provide towels.

In the mens changing room there is a sauna and a steam room. (I don't know about the ladies, I didn't go in there).

I hope this helps.

we liked the pool at Sequoia lodge. We used it during the day when it was a bit quieter (we were there in july when there were long opening hrs in the parks)

Im just over 5ft and am sure i could just and so stand up but couldnt be certain. Again Im not certain but dont think the slide ended in water any deeper than the rest of the pool.

They opened the outside bit both times we were in and it was nice to keep swimming in and out through the door

there was also a small jacuzzi

It was a nicer pool than DLH but not as big or good as DCR

When we were at Sequoia Lodge pool there was a notice saying under 12's were not allowed in the jacuzzi.

There was no shallow end so my children, 9 and 6, couldn't stand up, even though they can swim I made them carry floats and waited at the bottom of the slide for them.
Can't remember exactly but guess the depth was about 1.4m.

Thanks for letting me know. Has anyone been in June before? was the outdoor pool open? Is the indoor pool at Sequoia attached to the indoor pool? If not where are they located?

Many thanks

Ro

Hi, we've been to the New York twice and are booked again for June.

The pool was great. We were there in July, both times and the outdoor pool was open, which was lovely. The pool is a fair size with a jaccuzzi, which I didn't bother with. There's also a separate small pool, more a paddling type pool for young kids.

I can't remember too much about the changing rooms, but I think typical for France. We never actually bothered getting changed anyway, and wrapped up in the massive white towels and headed back to the hotel rooms for a shower and change. Loads of other people did that too, which is where we got the idea from, so you won't look out of place.

It was fantastic to go back mid-afternoon and relax outside in the Sun (always been very hot in July) and then head back to the park later, as is open later in the summer.

Can't wait to get back there!:goodvibes

Yes they are attached. There is a large door which is raised to open the outside bit and then you can swim under the door between the 2

I'm presuming they will have, but Does Newport have changing rooms and lockers to store anything? Is there a charge for the lockers?
