Swimming in December

I've booked the family at the Polynesian (GV Concierge) for December 27th through Jan 3rd. I heard alot about the neat pool at Poly, but am wondering if it will be warm enough to swim. We're from Connecticut, so used to cooler weather, but we are definitely not members of the Polar Bears Club! Thanks for any advise.

The pools at the resorts are heated, so if you are in them they are warm. We are "thin blooded Floridians" so we have never braved the waters in the winter months, but there is never a shortage of those that do.

The weather is so unpredictable. During our Dec 99 trip, my daughter got to swim 3 or 4 days. The other days were overcast and just too chilly. We had to break out the sweatshirts on those days.

Just come prepared!

When we were at the All Star Movies in Nov/Dec, 2000, it was cold outside. At night, when we were walking back to our room, I had my sweatshirt on and I was cold - but there were kids swimming in the pool! You could see the steam rising from the water, so the pools must be heated. But, at some point, you had to get out the water, and I would imagine that it was a long walk to the room!!! It was just a little too cold for us!!! Last Nov/Dec, it was much warmer and of course the pools were being used!! We're headed back again (the week after Thanksgiving) and I'm hoping it will be really cool again!

My DS did swim in January of this year. He stayed in the pool untill he was ready to leave and then wraped in a big towel and ran for the roon. We were very close to the pool. His lips were blue and he was shivering. Too cold for me but it didn't hurt him at all.

We always swim that time of the year. It seemed much warmer when we were used to North Idaho weather. Now that we are in AZ our blood has thinned but we still swim. It is cool at night when you get out but during the day, if the sun is out, it is pleasant.

That being said we have been to WDW in Dec. when we have had to wear gloves, muffler, heavy coat and long underwear. Those times we stayed out of the pool.:D

When we were there in December 2000, most days it was in the mid 70's and we swam 5 or 6 times. Mostly during the day, when the sun was plenty warm. One evening though, we swam after Fantasmic, it was a nice warm day, and the pool felt nice after dark. The kids loved it. By the way, we are from Minnesota, so anything over 50 is probably swimming weather to us LOL.

We used usually go every other year, the first or second week of December. We changed our itinerary last year to start going over Thanksgiving, so we don't have to pull our kids out of school so long.

Every trip we have gone on in December, with the exception of 2000, it has been warm, usually very warm. Even in 2000, while it was cold, my kids still swam, as did a ton of kids. It did keep me out of the water however, lol. It was an absolute riot to watch the swimmers when they got out of the water, literally screaming and running for their towels and then off to their rooms. The cold spell broke towards the end of our trip, and the first really warm, sunny day we ran to Blizzard Beach for the entire day.

As mentioned earlier, the pools are heated, so it shouldn't be a problem. If it is chilly, just make sure you have something to cover the kids with when they get out, more than the towels :)

Have a great trip

We swam on Christmas day last year. MK in the morning then swimming in the afternoon.
