Swim diapers in the pools. Enforced? Or not?

I wonder if they allow people in Depends in the adult pool? And I'm only half joking.

I would bet they would let an old person in, since old people pay for cruises, kids dont

. At the time, there were no Disney panties, :scared1: only little boy's briefs, so she spent several months in her own boy-type undies til Disney came out with lil girl stuff. :cheer2:

WTH? When was this? The amount of Ariel, Tiana et al. panties we have accumulated from Target is shocking. We had one twin very easy to potty train and one VERY stubborn, just like her daddy was way back when ;)

Do you realize that her wearing a swim diaper will not prevent her from getting out of the splash are and peeing on the deck? Those swim diapers to NOT hold any liquid in them.

I disagree. And its got to be better than her just straddling and out right peeing on the deck. Besides we are planning on staying in Nemo's Reef unless our current efforts of potty training payoff. As I understand it, the splash areas have a special filtration system for kids that are not potty trained and swim diapers are recommended for use by the cruise line. But then again.... I could be wrong.... see next reply.

I did not read this whole thread, but wanted to jump in and say that REAL swim diapers - i.e., the ones that are NOT disposable, actually DO hold fecal matter in. When fitted properly (snug against all openings) they work very well. I've been in waterbabies with both my children since they were 4 months old, and have seen on many, many occasions where swim diapers have successfully kept the pool from being drained due to contamination.

It is when parents use the disposable ones that there is a problem, because those do absolutely NOTHING.

I have a swim suit that we purchased from Buy Buy baby that has a swim diaper sewn in. It is like really think training pants, tigh elastic on the legs, and what i thought was a waterproof cover like rubber pants. But I noticed when she got out of the pool at my mom's that I saw pee pee trickling down her legs. So it is then that i thought the disposable would be better. I am going to check out the site and look for a better product. .... see next reply...

DS was a little over 2 when he first sailed with us. I showed him pictures of the Mickey pool (on the Wonder) and told him that if he wanted to swim in that pool he would have to start using the potty. He trained in 3 days and was able to swim in Mickey's pool a few weeks later. He told everybody about it!

I have been using the Clubs as an incentive but she loves to swim and possible I can use a different approach.... and use the Mickey pool as an incentive.

She has been swimming in our home pool since May. Almost everyday. Not one POOH accident. I dont mind that she goes Pee Pee on our deck at home. But I dont want her to do that in public, and no one else does either, so i was looking for another solution.

To the OP.... best of luck with SIL. Maybe if you make her aware of the rules, she can see other options.... and think of the $$$ saved if she is not having to buy diapers..... If she is still disagreeable.... Is the boat really gonna be big enough.... (JK---LOL!)

We don't want this.

Can't believe this thread is still going strong. :rotfl:

Today I got a text about a whole different problem with the cruise. So it's just one thing after another. So @Woody--- I don't know if are staterooms will be far enough apart ;)

Hmmm...didn't you get each of them on a different ship? ;)

I disagree. And its got to be better than her just straddling and out right peeing on the deck. .... But then again.... I could be wrong.... see next reply.

I found this out the hard way when DS was little. We got ready to go to the beach and because I thought that the disposable swim diapers would hold pee like a regular diaper, I got him into that and his swim suit before we left home. I was not happy to discover that his car seat padding was saturated when we got to the beach about 30 minutes later because of them being unable to do so. Of course, when you think about it, you put them on a kid in a pool where there is a lot of water. That kid would be quite weighted down as soon as you put them in the water. That's why all liquids just flow through them.

I just thought that I would share my expierence with you since I can picture a kid [could have been my DD when she was that age since she liked to do everything her brother did] getting out of the pool, spreading her feet apart next to Nemo's Reef and peeing right there on the deck. Better chance of you averting her from doing that if you knew it was still possible. :goodvibes

Ancient history. Stubborn child just became a mommy herself -- payback time. :rotfl:

I'm not sure I am ever swimming in a DCL pool after reading this thread. This has been very enlightening to those of us without kids.

You think this thread's bad?! Try reading this thread! FH recently mentioned doing laundry on our cruise to save on packing and I was like, NOPE! UH UH! NO WAY! NOT GONNA DO IT!!!

I am a mum of four. In our private pool we use swim diapers and then deal with the consequences. I have NEVER taken them into a public pool until potty trained. Although I do realize they can pee without my knowing or realizing, number two is hard to miss! PLEASE seriously guys. The pools aren't pools anyway. Use the spray-ground and stop it with this discussion already. You can't change the policy.
