At the risk of sounding down-right CHEAP I'm going to post this question:

Has anyone tried, with success, using anything other than the Swiffer replacements cloths on the swiffer "broom".

With 4 kids and 3 cats, I'm going through the replacement cloths really quickly!

Any suggestions? (besides getting rid of the cats and kids_- :rotfl:

Never tried anything else but I have been know to tunr them over and use the other side.

I turne them over as well.
You can use a paper towel with some cleaner on it and shoved it in there.

I've also read that some people use overlapping coffee filters.

Um, I use to buy the baby wipes in bulk and use those. I had two little kiddos and two big dogs and a cat living with me. I used them all day long.

on my regular swiffer, when I ran out of cloths, I bought one roll of brawny papertowels and I use those. Works just fine. If I needed the wet swiffer cloths, I wet a dishrag and use it.

I tucked my dish rag in the holes and then used a spray bottle to moisten the rag/floor before using, flip it on other side and go again.. it gets kinda grimey but that's why we have bleach! :thumbsup2

I've been using the same box of swiffer cloths for the past two years! I just wash them with the towels every week and let them air dry. I accidentally washed one years ago---when it didn't fall apart, I tried washing a week's worth and haven't looked back since!

I use the cloths from 3M. They are a reusable dust cloth...sorry, I don't know the exact name. I use it, throw it in the wash and start all over.

Okay, I never thought I'd admit this to ANYONE but I ran out of the Swiffer wet cloths one day so I put the cleaner on the floor and mopped it up with a sanitary pad (the kind with the "wings")

I wouldn't actually recommend it to anyone but it actually did work well

I use my local grocery store brand .... they work exactly the same :thumbsup2

Lets think of ourselves as thrifty instead of cheap, ha!!

Dollar Tree and Family Dollar have generic ones that might work. A damp dishcloth may work, too. Maybe you could spray them with some Endust or other dusting spray that won't make floors slippery. (Don't use Pledge! It makes floors really slippery!)

Last time I was at Walmart they had a brand called Grime Boss with 16 in a box for about $1.79. They work just as well as the swiffer floor cloths to me!

OMG that is too funny! Do you get the urge to mop your floor about every 28 days? :rotfl: If my 2 teen aged sons caught me using a Kotex to mop the floor, I'd never live it down! NEVER! They'd be talking about that at my funeral!!!

I used a paper towel today and it worked OK- not as good as the swiffer cloths. I like the idea of washing and re-using them! I didn't know they made generic swiffer-type cloths..... I'll look for those.

Thanks everyone!

Microfiber towels! They are the best for every kind of cleaning job. You can find them cheap in the auto section of Wal-Mart. 5 towels are bundled in a pack for $4.88 or something like that. I use them for both Swiffer dry and wet.

:rotfl: LOL, I go through swiffers like you wouln't believe, And I don't have any pets at all I am just very anal

I will also admit that I have used everything that has already been mentioned (including Always with wings :rotfl2: ) They all work just fine. I haven't tried the wamrt brand though, maybe I will this weekend when we go food shopping.

LOL
Good way to use up all the Kotex pads I get for free after rebate at Walgreen's! :lmao:
I will never need to buy pads again .. just rotate the $10 gift card into another set as they keep offering it month - after month- after month....

I use wet hand towels with windex or whatever cleaner sprayed on to the warm, wet towel.
