Just curious, my husband drinks sweet iced tea. He was wondering if they serve it at the WDW Restaurants? Anyone know? Give me what place you did get some at.

Thanks!

I sure hope so! Being in the south, I would assume so, but I'll check back here to see the replies from people in the know.

My understanding is that they switched to Nestea (yuck!) instead of fresh brewed. Can anyone confirm? If that is the case, I will be making cold brewed or using my coffee pot to make tea.

When it comes to Sweet Tea, Florida has always been the Southern state that forgot that it was in the South. Most sit-down resturants that I have been to around WDW do not offer sweet tea. I was pleasantly surprised to find good sweet tea at Trail's End last week. As of last week, Boma and Macaroni Grill(off-site) did not have sweet tea.

oh good. It sounds like I may have gotten bad info about the Nestea. Wooo hoooo! :cool1:

Unless there has been a change, the only two places to get a glass of sweet tea are LTT and Trail's End. My girls love sweet tea, but there is really none to be found at Disney (or Florida, for that matter). I have thought about making a simple syrup at home and letting my older daughter take it with her to the restaurants. I know it won't be the same, but it sure is better than dumping a pack of sugar in a cold glass of tea.

As other's have said, real sweet tea is hard to find at Disney :( . I've had it at LTT, but never been to Trail's End. Never found it anywhere else at Disney either. Usually if a restaurant serves it, the server will ask (do you want tea or sweet tea?). Real sweet tea is wonderful, but it can't be made on the spot.

Oh well, maybe it's a good thing. Drink water and save those calories for all the food we'll be eating that week!

Can some one tell me how sweet tea is made? I have had it before and loved it but have no idea how it is made.

How sweet tea is made? Really? Where are you from? I don't mean any offense, I just find it really funny. Perhaps it is because I am from the South and even my 6 year old knows how to make sweet tea. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

1. Fill a 2 qt pot 2/3 full of water.
2. Bring to a boil.
3. Take water off heat.
4. Put 6 regular tea bags or 2 family size tea bags in water.
5. Let steep for at least 15 minutes.
6. pour in to 2 qt pitcher.
7. Add sugar to taste - usually between 1/2 and 1 cup, depending on how you like it. Make sure you add the sugar while the tea is still warm so it will melt.
8. Top off pitcher with cold water.
9. Pour over ice and drink.

YUMMMMMMM

Ofcourse, I am sure there are variations. Hmmm, I never thought it out step by step.

When I was pregnant, I made my own sweet tea everywhere I went! I simply ordered hot water (as if for hot tea) and brought my own decaf tea bag (which was why I made my own---decaf iced tea is hard to find!). I of course paid as if I ordered hot tea! :flower:

Then ask the server to bring you 2 full glasses of ice. After you brew your tea, add the sugar (to your taste). Add to 1st glass of tea and if too strong, pour 1/2 into the second. Voile! Instant iced tea the way you want it!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Try it at home first if you aren't sure what to expect. I rather enjoyed it because it didn't have caffeine and it was REALLY fresh brewed.

Enjoy!!!!

LOL...from Maryland and we call it iced tea here. The steps are the same but for some reason it does taste better in the south!!!!

Here in Mississippi, where we love our sweet tea, stores sell a gallon container of Milo's Famous Sweet Tea. It also comes in single serve containers. I was a little skeptical the first time I tried it, but it's really great!! Tastes like home brewed tea. It's possible that they sell it at stores in Florida. If you can find it, you could store it in a cooler or in your resort fridge to satisfy your tea cravings. I think I'll take some for our trip next month.

I am from Mississippi and we call it iced tea here too. If you order iced tea in a restaurant, your server will ask "Sweet or unsweet?".

It probably tastes better here because it is so bloody hot and humid!

Up here in the Northeast, Boston Area, we do not know what sweet iced tea is.....I have a friend who lives in Virginia and tells me about it all the time, I will have to try this... It is not just ice tea with sugar, it is something else, right??

The difference in sweet tea and tea with sugar is that in the south we put our sugar in the tea while it is still warm/hot. The sugar dissolves completely and makes the tea taste much sweeter than when sugar is added to cold tea. In Georgia we all call it sweet tea-not iced tea.

OMG! Do ya'll have the Milo's burger joints in Mississippi? I lived in Birmingham for 4 years in the mid-late '90s and there were several Milo's in the area. I thought it originated in B'ham. They were known for their sweet tea and the sauce on their burgers. I couldn't stand the sauce, but I loved their tea. They sold it in the gallons in the grocery stores there too, but I thought it was just because Milo's was local. Man, what I wouldn't give if they sold it up here in Tennessee.

Now I have the jingle in my head: "Everybody goes to .... Milo's"

You are correct, Milo's did originate in B'ham. In the past couple of years we've been able to buy Milo's sweet tea in gallon containers in the grocery stores. I live 2 hrs. north of B'ham.

By the way cat1258---I taught school in Shannon one year when I lived in that area. :) Small World.

And lastly, I am a Southerner who would rather drink water than unsweet tea ! Give me my sweet tea. :teeth:
