Sweet Iced Tea???

we were never so happy to find sweet tea at LTT last year. I could not beleave we were in the south and could not find TEA (yes, TEA means sweet and iced). Does no one know "sweet tea, house wine of the south".

they have good sweet tea at columbia harbor house (the flirted with the pre-made nestea for a while, but the last time I went it was brewed), liberty tree, and trail's end. I think columia harbor house is a little better than trails end. It is pretty easy to just go in and get a cup at CHH when it isn't a meal rush time; to me, that is much more refreshing than grabbing a bottle of coke. They used to have it years ago at aunt polly's not sure if they do now, I don't think they have much at aunt polly's anymore. They might have it at the restaurant in dixie landings, I don't know.

It is not just ice tea with sugar, it is something else, right??
Real sweet tea is a little slice of heaven on earth. It is almost good enough to have as a dessert and just about as sweet, too. The best part is the double-buzz (one from caffeine and the other from the sugar).

It's a shame FL has forgotten this "nectar of the gods." :goodvibes The best words to hear in any restaurant south of the Mason Dixon is "Do you want tea or sweet tea?"

Here in TX we have a place called Bill Miller BBQ they sell sweet tea by the bucket. Literally you get a big bicket with a lid and a carrying handle. I manage a restaraunt that is right next door to a Bill Miller's and my employees are constantly going over with their bucket to get tea, even though we sell sweet tea. :confused3

I cannot stand the "instant" tea served @Disney restaurants so I carry a 1 gal. Coleman cooler and make my own in with the coffee maker and use ice to finish filling the cooler. It stays fresh for at least 24 hours.

I don't understand what the problem is with "sweet tea"...take the unsweetened and sweeten it with sugar, sweet & low, equal, splenda....this way people who have sugar problems and people without can drink the tea! Some of that sweetened tea is too sweet for some anyway. I was just there in October, and enjoyed the unsweetened tea, and my daughter just added sugar to hers and enjoyed it as well.

The problem is the tea is cold. When you add sugar to the cold tea it doesn't dissolve, it just settles to the bottom. :earseek: Artificial sweetener blends better but tea with sweet & low is just not sweet tea.

You are correct, Milo's did originate in B'ham. In the past couple of years we've been able to buy Milo's sweet tea in gallon containers in the grocery stores. I live 2 hrs. north of B'ham.

By the way cat1258---I taught school in Shannon one year when I lived in that area. :) Small World.

And lastly, I am a Southerner who would rather drink water than unsweet tea ! Give me my sweet tea. :teeth:

Hi MHTeacher :wave2:
It really is a small world. I had my doubts that anyone on these boards would ever know where Shannon is. It's amazing that you actually taught school here. I've been an Assistant Teacher at Shannon Primary School for six years. Did you teach at the high school?
About the Milo's tea. We've never had a Milo's hamburger joint here. I guess they must be mass marketing the tea down south now. It's so good, I hope they keep selling it here. Maybe they'll start selling it in TN soon, bamagirl. It's probably just like the tea they sold at the burger places. It tastes fresh brewed.

Hmmm.. the lack of sweet tea must be a central/south Florida thing, because you can get it anywhere here in NW Florida--from McDonald's all the way up the food chain. We LOVE our sweet tea.

And we have Milo's tea in grocery stores here--and it's great. But I first discovered it in B'ham as well.. :)

Sweet tea is not cold tea with sugar dumped in it. The sugar never dissolves and it just clumps at the bottom. Here in Georgia you will find unsweetened tea and sweet tea. If you want to control your sugar, get the unsweetened and add accordingly, but you won't really be having true southern sweet tea.
