At home we only buy sweet acidophilus milk. It helps immensely with certain dietary issues. I have not been able to find it in Florida. NO SA milk = no cereal. I can live with that, but would like to have the option if anybody can tell me where to get it.

Can't you use regular milk and take a probiotic supplement?

I have never heard of that. Is it lactose free? If so, I'd certainly be interested for my DD!

If you don't find it, you can get acidopholous granules from your pharmacist and add to food or beverages. That is what I currently do for DD since she can't have yogurt.

It is not 100% lactose free I dont think, but it is certainly greatly reduced in lactose. I have a mild lactose intolerance. Sweet acidophilus milk is good enough that I dont have to mess with the expensive pills. I have taken them before, and they do work when you follow the directions, but they are expensive and honestly alot of trouble IMO.

I consumed no milk, only aged cheese, yogurt, and minimal ice cream for quite a number of years. I do not like dry cereal without milk--just a personal preference. I can certainly live without milk for two weeks, as I lived without it for at least ten years when I was younger. I have just never seen this product in Florida. I have bought it in Tennessee and Kentucky.

DW says that SA tastes the same as regular 1% milk and better than skim. It would be nice to be able to get some, but not absolutely necessary.

Never heard of it - I just buy the pills at shoprite, and keep them in my fridge.

I know the product, it was always available when we lived on the west coast. I was wondering, have you tried Publix (in FL)? It seems like they carry everything, I love that store. It may not be with the regular milk but perhaps with the healthfood/organic section. Try calling the store manager and see if they carry it; if not they might be willing to order it for you.

This is a very useful suggestion. We have some Publix here in Tennessee, and they DO carry it here. I will make a point to check the Publix in Florida.

I have not heard of this kind of milk before and am intrigued.:teacher:

Anyway, according to the Whole Foods web site, there is a store on Turkey Lake Road in Orlando - phone # (407)355-7100. Would this be a kind of store that would carry your product?

What brand is it? We used to live in Tn and we LOVE Mayfield milk. I wish we could get it here. :sad2:

Are you driving? Maybe you could put some in a cooler?

Good luck

I can tell you for a fact you won't be able to find the Purity Sweet Acidophiles or any other brand like this in Florida.

I sooooooooo miss the Sweet Acidophiles milk; we moved from Nashville in 2003 and have been searching for it ever since!

There are two things we get when we return to Nashville - Purity Sweet Acidophiles milk and Whitts Bar-B-Que!

Again, I can tell you for a fact that Publix in Florida does not carry this milk. We have a local dairy that delivers, its something like Guffenstiens, but no Sweet Acidophiles; I've been trying to get them to carry it for years. I even called the head quarters in Lakeland and was told that they carry local dairy farmers milk and the Publix brand, greenwise brand, only.

So, Purity is a TN dairy farm and can only be found in TN. Sorry for the disappointment!

Hmmm, I've never heard of sweet acidophilus milk. I'll have to look for it sometime. Have you tried lactose free milk, like Lactaid? You can get that pretty easily just about anywhere. You could also take an acidophilus supplement for the time that you're away. I know you don't like to bother with the pills, but they're really not too much trouble, and really seem to help us with overall digestion, especially the occasional dairy. And they're really not too expensive if you shop online. I get better deals that way (seacoastvitamins.com).
