Alright, in just a little over 4 months I will be turning 16. I am at a loss for what I want to do for it.

My Mom suggested renting out our local community center and hiring a DJ but, to make it worth doing, I'd probably have to invite 30 or more people. I don't want to make this HUGE ya know. ;) I just want my friends and some of my family to be with me to make this memorable.

Then, she suggested renting a limo that would pick me and some friends up and take us out to eat (we would all so get really dressed-up). I got to thinking about it...and while it is a great idea....I'd rather not do this. I just know that everyone won't want to dress-up and it just doens't seem right for this occasion. :confused3

For my last 2 birthdays I had pool parties followed by dancing and hanging out at my house. We really went into the Luau thing last year. :hippie:

I was wondering if any of y'all have any good ideas for what I could do...for as you can see I am at a loss....:guilty:

My mom was so excited when I turned 16 and wanted to make a big deal out of it, but I have never been the type to want to celebrate my birthday thanks to my Peter Pan complex. Anyway, she surprised me and 5 of my best friends with a Limo for my Sweet 16. It ended up being really fun and a very memorable experience.

One of my friends did the limo thing for her 16th. We had so much fun!! It just drove us around downtown mostly and we got out from time to time and took pictures and then it took us to her favorite restaurant. We all liked to dress up though, so you're right....if some don't want to dress up it wouldn't be as much fun.

If you don't want to have a big party, why not do what you usually do with a pool party? Like you said you could just invite your close friends and some of your family. Then do a little something to make it extra special since it's your 16th.

My DD turned 16 last month, we took a trip to WDW :) . Could your family do a 3 day trip even someplace local to celebrate? My bias is that Bdays are for family much more than friends.
Another fun thing could be a day long spa experience for you and two other people you choose.

I also like the idea of buying something more practical , like a laptop in honor of your bday.

lastly they could roll the $ into CDs for your college.

I kept my sweet 16 really small. I was one who preferred to just be with a few of my closest friends having fun than with a huge group. I also don't like to get dressed up. I had 6 friends over for pizza and then we went to a Monarchs (hockey) game. After the game we came back home for cake, ice cream, and non alcoholic margaritas. My friends slept over. For me, it was the perfect party. The next day we had a family birthday party, with all the aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents. That was simply our typical pasta dinner followed by cake and ice cream like we do for every birthday.
I did have friends who had big sweet sixteens, but most of my friends did stuff like I did, just a small sleepover, going out to eat, etc.

For my DD's sweet 16 we rented a 16 pass. van and drove the kids to Great Adventure for the day. They loved it. I had Tshirts printed up with Kristi's Big Adventure on the back in her favorite color Kelly Green. The kids said it was so easy to find each other. They came back to the car and we had a picnic lunch and when they headed back to the park i gave them each a frozen water & 10 dollars for dinner. Some of the moms told me that there kids thought this was the best sweet 16 ever. Whatever you do have a great time.

There is not a rule that says you have to dress up for a limo. My mom had the limo waiting for me when I came home from school and I didn't have time to change, so I ended up wearing jeans. We then drove around and picked up my other friends at their houses. We ate pizza and ice cream in the limo. It was very casual.

My DD will be 16 in June. She chose to go to Vero Beach (DVC) with us, her grandparents and 4 of her good friends.....Oh, she also wants a Louis Vuitton Bag..

Hey Monarchsfan16! We are taking my son that is turning 16 April 4th to the Lowell Devils game on April 6th for his birthday:) He invited a few friends...we are doing pizza hut and then going to the game. He won the game worn jersey back in February and he'll be wearing that. Plus his friends will get hats and his birthday will be on the score board (he's jazzed about that). We LOVE:love: the Monarchs...
Sorry, didn't mean to hijack your thread, lol:)
