Hi, I am planning a trip for June. I am a teacher and found out that the dolphin and swan offer teacher discounts. I was wondering what is the differences between the two. Thanks

Hi Wark - Welcome!!!

1. Visit glo's anchored thread at the top of this page.

2. Visit our S/D FAQ thread on this page. (warning - we do have a tendency to stray off topic, but ask any question you want and I promise we will get it answered!!!!!)

3. Visit the website www.swandolphin.com

OK. The two hotels are built next to each other. The Swan is the smaller and more 'intimate' of the two facilities (can you call 800 or more rooms intimate?:p ) Each hotel has its own gift shop. Pool areas are shared by the hotels. You can walk from any location in either hotel to the other hotel in about 5 minutes or so. Both hotels have convention facilities and you will probably encounter the conventioneers. That turns some people off.

* The laundry facilities are at the Dolphin
* Tubbis buffeteria (think cafeteria) is at the Dolphin (24 hours)
* The Dolphin is still in its remodel process but quite far along
* Between the two facilities you have a ton of dining choices, including Shula's Steak House, Palio, Kimono's, Dolphin Fountain (fun), Tubbi's (good food! good pizza! refillable mugs!) and the new Splash Grill - along with Todd English's Blue Zoo (new) and MORE!!. Big price range.
* Swan has Queen beds - Dolphin has oversized doubles (only an inch or so smaller than the Queens. HEAVENLY BEDS!!! You will love them!
* Swan has a Hollywood bath in most rooms (extra sink/vanity outside of the bathroom).
* I believe both have 2 phone lines and a phone in the bathroom.
* Both are a 5 minute walk from mini-golf
* Both are a 5 minute walk from the Boardwalk!!! Stop at ESPN for nachos!!
* 10 - 15 min walk to either Epcot or MGM from either facility
* Water taxi to either Epcot or MGM (or Y & Beach)
* Bus service to MK, DTD, AK, etc. No bus to Epcot or MGM because of the water taxis.

You will probably be happy at either location!!! I find the Dolphin just 'too big' for me, but the other sorority sisters love it!!! I love the Swan. They are sister resorts and work very well together!

Just remember.....

You will have a resort fee of $10 - don't forget to figure that in
No park charging to your room
No Mickey wake-up calls
Don't be scared to ask if you need something - they are the most accomidating people there (extra pillows, blankets, ventilation settings, etc).
You will encounter convention people - they will not bite and they are jealous of you cause you are having fun and they are working. Grin and say 'hi' every time you see them and really irk them!!! :p

Some of the above items are big turn-offs for some people (more rooms left for us!) but if you are aware of these things, they are not a big deal.

Become a starwood preferred guest member -it may help for upgrade chances if the facility is not full when you are there. www.spg.com
