We need a refrig for our stay at the Swan, which is 21 days away.
I have just read that you cannot rent a refrig at the Swan. Is this true??
The article later mentioned, that at our request they will clear out the mini-bar for us to use at a fee of $20.00. Is this per day?

Does anyone know if any of this is fact??

Also if we bring a cooler , does the Swan have ice machines to refill the cooler with?
:wave2:

If you need it for medical reasons, like medicine, they should waive the $20 fee. And they do have ice machines.

We stayed at the Swan Thanksgiving week and at check-in the CM told me that we could make room in the refridgerator in the room for whatever we needed and to just place the removed items on top of the desk so that we wouldn't be charged. If you need the entire fridge, they will charge a one-time restocking fee. I don't know if it is $20 or $25. We found it easier to leave the kids milk and juice boxes in the cooler we used on the drive down (Metro Atlanta) and just add ice each evening. We were close to the ice machines. One note, there are no vending machines in the Swan so stock up on soft drinks if you want them when you return to your room in the evening.

Thanks Sherri, Thanks MinniesMate......Well at least they have ice machines. I hope they are on every floor tho. I am glad to hear that we CAN empty out the mini-bar and use it for our needs.
Doesnt sound like I need to give it further thought......thanks again! :earsboy: :earsgirl:

I would not empty out the mini bar. My impression is that you can move some stuff around and maybe take out a few things, but I would stop short of a wholesale emptying without talking to the front desk. Be sure you document WHO you talked to and what they said.

I have seen hotels handle this differently. My normal plan is to buy the same brands they have and just swap!!!

Yes Carol i agree. I wud absolutely ask the front desk at check-in (if they dont mention it first) about making room vs. taking everything out of the mini-bar. Thanks for the input.

There are ice machines on every floor, by each elevator. There is actually room in the fridge for a few things without removing anything at all. I had two half pints of milk and two juice boxes in mine, with some room to spare. I asked the bellman if I could put things in it, and he said no problem. The front desk did not even mention the mini-bar or give me a key.. I had to go back later and get the key.

We were provided the same info - I asked to have the mini-bar emptied - was quoted $25 (7/2002). The check-in desk told me I didn't want to pay that much (it was for 10 days - I actually would have), but to take out a few items and put them on top but mark them or leave a note to not refill or bill for those items. I could probably have asked to have it emptied for no charge for my insulin but we had plenty of room after pulling out a couple of things.

We are bringing our own bottled water(a case) and breakfast (yogurt) from home for our 7 day trip. I will ask to have the mini-bar emptied out and pay the $25, as long as its not 25 a day.... if not not we will keep refilling the cooler....thanks for the info. :earsboy:
