Hi Gang

We now have 40,000 spg points which gives us the ability to get 5 free nights at the Swan or Dolphin. Does anyone have experience redeeming the points for free nights. I'd like to know if it's easy it is and/or if you've ever had a problem getting a room. What kind of room do you get? Do you have any suggestions from your experience?

We're looking to go again next summer or fall and I'd like some advice.

Thanks
Andy

I book my rooms using points online - and I've never had a problem! If the hotel is full or out of standard rooms, the site will have a message telling you to call?

But, I've never booked a room with a points promotion (stay 4 nights, get one free). You might have to call SPG directly for that.

Our points rooms are always just as lovely as the cash ones :)

I've done this 3 times, and doing again in March (20,000 points for an exec suite at the Swan for 2 nights after our cruise).

I'd call SPG directly. You will get a standard room, but they may upgrade you to a balcony room when you arrive if it's available.

It is great - I personally prefer the cleanliness and quiet of the Swan, but some folks prefer the Dolphin.

PM me if you need any other advice - the swan/dolphin has become our favorite, for the location, amenities, and the spg points for FREE NIGHTS is great!

I do it on line all the time. You can do the buy 5 nights for only 40,000
ponts online, I just did so. I got upgraded a time or two but most of the
time the upgrades are not much. Its a great deal if the rates at the hotel
are in the $275- $300 range, otherwise I usually pay cash and save my
points for a better deal. Last week I wanted to book the Swan and they
were only showing avaliabilty for the Dolphin on points. However the website
showed standard rooms at the Swan for cash ,so I called Starwood and they booked it for me at the Swan, no problem.
