Hi All,

Was wondering if anyone knows anything about a convention at the Swan or Dolphin in early July?

I made a room reservation for the Swan in early Feb for July 11-July 16. I wanted to add a second room for my teenage boys - using Starwood points - but yesterday the Starwood reservation online system is saying no availability - for either the Swan or the Dolphin.

Am hoping this might change as it gets closer to July.

What do you think???

Thanks,

The 11th and 15th are available. If there is a convention, they block rooms up to a certain date and if all are not sold they will release them. You could book the two available nights and keep checking. If they don't become available, you could then cancel and have the points returned to your account.

This happened to us this past Jan. I had booked the whole week and later tryed to switch the nights from paid to points. I was able to get three and paid for three, but missed out on the four get the fifth free. But it was still a good deal and we had a great trip!!

Good luck and keep trying.

Thanks Opal - I'm really hoping it's just a temporary glitch and that more nights will open up. I too would very much like to use the 40,000 points and get the 5th night free. Maybe I'll call the Swan directly - that's how I was able to get my first reservation (it wouldn't come up online with the government discount, so I couldn't book through the Starwood site).

If you don't mind, I have another question for you concerning switching from pay to points - when I made the reservation I was told that I could decide later to pay with points instead of cash - but it sounds like you were told you had to make a new reservation? Is that correct?

I should have enough points for 5 free nights (which is how long we are staying). If we can't get the second room for free, one idea was to keep the original reservation and "pay with points" - at least that would help us deal with the crowded room (we love the Swan, but as the boys have gotten older - and bigger - it is hard for them to share a bed ).

But if I need a whole new reservation, that sure isn't going to work!

Guess it would be smart to start checking on some of the Disney hotels as a back-up.

I really love our WDW trips, but it's never easy to make all the necessary arrangements at a reasonable price!

I would call the Swan directly. The Dolphin is just as nice as the Swan, too, and has so many more rooms! Good luck!

I tried to book the Dolphin for 2006 - June 24- July 8 in 2006 !
The Dolphin is TOTALLY BOOKED :earseek: - 4 conventions going on :earseek:

The Swan had only a few rooms open - but I am scared :badpc: they may close the pool for the conventions a day or two - it has happened in the past.
So in 2006 - no heavenly beds for us - we'll be in the BC enjoying Stormalong Bay next door.

No offense to convetions - but 4 in my two week time frame and no rooms available ? ! :confused3
