Swan/Dolphin Starwood Points Question

S/D are category 4. 10,000 points per night. Upgrade is an additional 1000.

Total= 11,000 per night

But isn't that the points needed to get a free ROOM and the club upgrade?? I think if you pay cash for the room, it is only 1000 points per night to upgrade to club.

I have heard also that if you upgrade at checkin, it might cost you 1250 per night.

I think it will be 1000 or 1500
1000 if you already booked a preferred room i.e lake view w/ balcony
1500 if you have a traditional room with no "preferred" view.

and used SPG points to purchase Club Level privs. from the main Starwood number (five days out). We were charged 1,500 per night. I asked if this was the true cost (as I had read posts where some had been charged only 1,250) and was told that they had increased the cost to 1,500. I also asked (very nicely!) when checking into the Dolphin if it was 1,500 and was also told that it was. We really enjoyed having access to the Club Level. It was great for breakfast and for a snack late in the afternoon.

Have a great time!
