I currently have ressies at POP thru DU, after seeing info about teacher discount, I looked into S & D. It will be me, DH, DD10, DS8. Which would you go with? I want easy transportation to parks. I'll only do S & D if they have teacher discount the days of my stay. Any opinions appreciated - never been to WDW. Thanks.

you're comparing a value to a deluxe resort. If you can get the discount- go with the S/D! The location and transportation is awesome. Wait until your children see the grotto pool! The heavenly beds really are heavenly.

Wishing you luck on getting the discount for your days!

I have never stayed at Pop, but I love, love, love the Swan. The ease of getting to Epcot and MGM (either walking or boat) is unbeatable. Also you are just about a 5 minute walk to the Boardwalk. For your family makeup I think that the Dolphin might be a better choice as it has a more festive atmosphere, while the Swan has a more subdued elegance. Given that the S/D are deluxe resorts with all the amenities (and then some), wonderful attentive staff and comfortable, well appointed guests rooms, I would certainly pick them! Don't forget to join SPG (Starwood's reward program) before your visit for additional perks. Just keep in mind that they are not owned by Disney, therefore no Mickey toiletries or Mickey wake-up calls, no room charging in the Parks and you always run the risk of having highly visable conventions. Also don't forget to calculate the $10 resort fee and if you are bringing or renting a car, the $7/day parking fee. These things can really add up and sometimes make the low teacher rate not so attractive.

Some other advantages: Grotto Pool, Starbucks Coffee, Tubbies Buffeteria (open 24 hours) heavenly beds, top notch housekeeping and generous room upgrades (depending on availabilty)

You can't even compare them. The Swan & Dolphin are wonderful, deluxe resorts & Pop is a bare bones value.

I have stayed at both Swan & Dolphin & love them both. The location, the beds, the Grotto, Tubbi's, the staff..... just can't beat them.

I stayed at a value once & will not do that again unless it is absolutely the ONLY way I could get to WDW anytime in the next couple years. Even tho we really only slept there, that was difficult due to the noise level. Slamming doors, drawers, flushing toilets, running water down the pipes in the walls, boisterous guests on the other side of thin walls...... Nope, not in my equation anymore.

Go with the Swan! My favorite. We have done both the All Stars and the Swan. DH and I and our older son love the Swan, but DD5 prefers the All Star Movies. :earsgirl: (What does she know though, she's 5) This year we had to go with a value and I think we are trying Pop, because we need 2 rooms. If I could I would never stay anywhere but the Swan! Join SPG and don't forget to add in the resort fee and the parking fee. Enjoy! :teeth:
