Swan / Dolphin on Hotwire

Wow, I thought that this was just a hotwire thread. I am really surprised to see Priceline and this hotel for $59. I don't suppose I could get that lucky in July....

I appreciate the response back. I just found this thread last night and noticed that many dates had passed. Thought it would be beneficial to learn how the lucky $81.00 recipients were treated at check in and during their stay.

Hi everyone! I've been back for a bit but just got a chance to sit down and chat. :) We stayed at the Dolphin from May 2-6th with the hotwire $81 night. They do charge the $10 night resort fee. When we checked in I tried to get a comp upgrade but they were quite full with a conference going on. My CM was wonderful!!!!! She did say I could pay or use points for the upgrade though. We got a wonderful room with an excellent view! I can't complain at all. Oh, and the location!!!!!!!!! My DD and I didn't want to leave!

Maggie.....Wow, it's almost time for your trip!!! You'll have a great time! My DD just fell in love with the Dolphin and the transportation from there was superb! I would definintely stay there again. Email me if you have any particular questions before leaving.

Maggie...oh, I forgot.....I believe they do have express check out. We paid for everything upfront and never charged to the room but did have that as an option. We received a bill under the door saying balance zero the morning of checkout.

I'm looking for 11/23-11/27, and I got $115/night for 4*'s but I'm confused about the S/D.

There is no laundry facility icon on the first page, or when you click on amenities.

This is what I got:

restaurant
pool
fitness center
business center
golf
tennis
spa

Could this be Hilton instead?

I'm checking into this for my honeymoon! I really want to stay some place nice on the property. THANKS

I would love to stay at the Swan or Dolphin, really don't care which, but I'm working on my budget and can't seem to do more than $114 a night.
My husband works for a state funded MHMR center but I'm not sure if that qualifies for the State/Govt discount. Any help would greatly be appreciated.
This will be our second family trip to WDW, so I'm still new to this. Thanks for any replies. We are planning on being there Dec 29-Jan 3. Should I look into the Ent. Book or use Hotwire or try to get the State/Govt. discount?

southern - that's the wyndham. I asked the same question awhile ago. I was hoping it was the dolphin.

:D

You can use the 800# to call the Swan/Dolphin and ask if your husband's work place qualifies for the government discount. 1-800-248-7926. I work for a State University and was told that any state or federal employee qualifies. You will need employee i.d. upon check-in.

Dec. 29 - Jan 3 will more than likely be a busy time. I would secure my ressies now. I'm not the gambling type when it comes to accomodations, so hotwire's not for me.

Go ahead and call the Swan/Dolphin and ask for all their rates at your time of stay. Also ~ check their website by plugging in your dates w/the different types of discounts from the pull-down menu. I found our rate for 2004 through the website (1/2 off rack :D ) then called the Swan directly to book it. www.swandolphin.com

Good luck! Let us know how you make out.

Just wanted to say thanks for the site and keeping track of everything.

We've been compiling a list of hotwire hotels in the Orlando area for the past couple of months, including star level, zone, and ammenities. Not a definite thing, but certainly improves the odds. Hotwire also seems to have a lot of the Royal Pacific and Hard Rock hotel in their inventory. Anyone who regularly uses my Hotwire/Priceline Orlando guide - I've now added these to the list.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered before but where is this site? I just got the Wyndham on I drive for $35 a night using PL. I am upset because it has gotten many bad reviews. I wish I had known about your site and HOtwire before. I guess there is nothing to do but hope for the best. We are only there for two weekend nights since we are going to check out of our DVC Boardwalk one bedroom on Friday to save points.

I am really unsure of what I am doing while looking at Hotwire but --- I was just directed to this link from another post and used the link Tigger Woods posted. I found an exact match with a rate of $166 for my dates in January (which are over the marathon). A lot higher than what most others are finding. Can anyone tell me if I am looking to early or if the WDW marathon is pushing rates up?? I was also wondering if it is possible to find out what conventions (if any) are booked during your stay. This is a special trip (our 10th wedding anniversary) and I would love to stay at the S/D but, I am trying to convince DH we should return with the kids in May-- and the better the bargain I can find the more likely that is to happen. Help??!!

Yes, it's probably pretty early to book on Hotwire for that time, either that or Hotwire has nothing else to put on there, and so they're putting a higher than usual rate on there for Swan/Dolphin. I often get really high rates if I put in dates that are more than 6 months in advance like that. I would try again in a few months, if you can wait that long.

Just wondering...where has Jim gone? He doesn't seem to post anymore on this thread. I have gotten some great info from all of these posts! Thanks everyone!

:bounce: Giving this thread a bump too!:bounce:

Hey all,

For those who have been wondering I still monitor (lurk :)) and occassionally post to the DisBoards! While maintaining my database/boards and helping so many great DisBoards users with their vacation plans was a lot of fun, I simply lost the motivation to maintain the website that required such a large amount of time.

When I started the site, it began as a fun project to put some knowledge that I acquired to use. I expected to spend an hour or so a day answering emails and helping/getting to know some board members. Within a week I was literally receiving WELL over 100 posts/emails a day, and quite honestly it was overwhelming.

The site soon began to average nearly 50 nights booked per day via my links. At that point Hotwire requested that I no longer link to their site. In combination with that and my inability to answer everyones emails (too many of them) I began to lose passion for the site. While the info is still available, it is in bad need of updating.

I now have some free time again and would eventually like to make a brand new and improved page. It will all depend on time and demand/interest, so I'll post back here as things progress!

Jim

Hi Jim,

I am just cursious why hotwire would have that reaction to all the business you sent their way. That seems like an odd business plan for those who would like to increase their revenue.

Cindy

Apparantly my site was making it too easy to pick "exactly" which hotel you wanted. If they affiliated with my site, according to Hotwire, it violated there agreement between Hotwire and the hotels.

Jim

Well I, for one, very much appreciated your hard work! Thanks to you, I had the courage to try Hotwire and was able to get 2 rooms at the Dolphin for a great price for a portion of my Dec/Jan trip! I did wonder what had happened to you--glad to see you back!

Sue

I understand that Jim. Thanks for explaining to me why a business wouldn't want so much business!

Has anyone recently got Swan/Dolpin on Hotwire. It is the Customers favorite? I am looking for Nov. 2003 dates. There is a 4 star that list restaurant, pool, fitness center, business center, golf and tennis.
Darlene

Customer Favorite is NOT the Swan or Dolphin. I think someone said it was the HIlton?
