Guess what? I'm back!!!!!!!!!!
Finally, real life seems to working out, for a change, with lots of happenings in the past few days.
First, Amanda was sent to a half-way house a week ago this past Friday. Downside, it's 180 miles (and 3 hours) away (1 way), whereas the prison was only 20 minutes away and I was able to see her there frequently.
Also, she was a full time college student in prison, but, had to stop when she was sent to the half-way house.
Then, last Thursday afternoon, the director called her to his office and told her to pack, cause she was going home...the judge in her case had shocked her out, on the recommendation of her prison counselor. So, I hopped in the car and drove 180 miles for the second time that week and brought her home.
Then today, we had to go back to court on the custody thing. Going in, we were still hearing dad's old song and dance-- "They're my kids and I want them". Then, his atty asked if Amanda would be willing to waive child support (told you that's what this has been about all along--he didn't want to pay support). She said "no", but, that it isn't an issue right now, cause she doesn't have custody. Then, they asked if we would be willing to take them to the school near dad's house every other week and continue this every other week thing we've been doing for the summer. I told them "no". Not only that, but, the school near his house has already been in session for 3-4 weeks (it's year-round), and I didn't feel that would be fair to the boys to start this late and be so far behind from the start. Then, the boys attorney asked me "You mean they're not already enrolled in Jacob (the school at dad's house)". Nope. But, they are enrolled in J-Town, (where they've always gone) and already have their teacher assignments. She said "OK" and went back in to pre-conference.
The next thing I know, MY attorney is telling me that they have agreed to my initial offer (from months ago) to continue the same set-up we've always had...the boys with me, and visiting them on the week-end. Seems they didn't want to have to bring them to school here every other week and the kids attorney would not agree to a change of schools for them.... For multiple reasons, the dads family did not want the judge to rule on this. She had already made her feelings on the subject clear.
So, the boys are MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy you would not believe. Ticked off, cause we've had to go through all of this (and the boys have had to go through so much...) for no reason, since this is what we offered at the very beginning. But THRILLED beyond belief that they are going to be staying with me!!!
So thrilled, I am in the process of making WDW ressies for December. I promise the boys that I would do this as soon as all of this stuff was over. SO, tadoy, I started doing it.
Sorry for rambling, but, I am just so relieved. My boys really are MY boys.....
And now---Poohlovr is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So, how many pages do I have to read to catch up?? Can you all just give me the readers digest version of what I've missed???
