SWAN AP view/room question

I just booked three nights at the SWAN using an AP dicount.

I read on the boards that we should receive a one room upgrade.

I went to the Westin site and looked at my ressie. It states a Deluxe room with a lake view. I had just switched from a teacher discount to the AP discount because all of the nights wern't covered at the teacher rate. My rate is $164 per night in October - the 23rd to 26th.

My questions:

Did I get a better deal?? (The one room that was not covered was at $221)

Is the Lake view the upgrade?


Given all of the above what is your recommendation to get the best room at the best price. I would rather see Epcot.

I booked a room at the Swan for early November with the AP discount. The price, tax in, was $154. I later called and asked to be upgraded to an Epcot view room with a balcony. The cost went up to $184 a night.

We just returned from the Swan using the AP rate and our room was on the 6th floor (610) and the view was the lake and the Dolphin. We could see the boat that picks up for Epcot and MGM and the fountain of the Dolphin. It was a great view. No fireworks or Epcot, but you could watch that from the bridge. I asked at check-in about a balcony and she said that would be $30 more per night. We had a wonderful stay - would do it again in a minute.

I called the reservation number again and talked to a very helpful reservation operator.

What I had was a Resort view which is an upgrade from a Lake view???

She told me that if I go with a standard room the upgrade would be for a Lake view for $139. $25 per night cheaper. I went with the $139 option and it will pay for one of our La Nouba tickets. I am much happier.
