Swan and Dolphin Questions

I have seen many questions about S/D Hotels but never paid close attention to them and now I have some of my own. Which do you prefer and why? Do they use Disney transportation? (I know they use the boats, but I was wondering about the busses.) Can you purchase the dining plan with a S/D package? Which is closest to the main pool? Thanks!!!

Swan and Dolphin are not on the Disney Dining Plan.
The do use Disney transportation. Boats to MGM and Epcot. Buses to Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Downtown Disney and the water parks.

Pools: Room location in either hotel would play a role in this answer.
