I was wondering if my family will be able to get A boarding passes for our January 1 trip. The flight is originating in BDL where will will board.

Anyone have any thoughts. I am a bit concerned.

:confused3

Patti,If you have access to a computer you can print your Boarding passes out online 24 hours ahead of time. You should have not problem at all getting Row A.I wouldn't think traveling on New Years Day would be that busy....but it's hard to say....Or if you can't print them out ahead of time I would arrive at the airport at least 2 hours ahead of time to check-in.How many people are travelling with you? Even if you get Row B you should still be OK.
Try not to worry.I'm sure everything will work out just fine.Southwest is a great airline and even though it does cause a little extra stress not having assigned seating it's still worth it!
Please let us know how it goes.

there will be 5 of us traveling together. Do you really have to wait 2 hors ahead with all of the group A people to get seats. I am afraid there might be too many preboards, but manybe not since school will be starting in CT soon.

Don't know if there is a limit to the people accompanying a four year old that can preboard , but yes, you do have to get there as early as you can. I traveled w/dd5 and ds4 and waited for about an hour and a half. I had to make sure to be first. I had two five point restraint car seats to install! It was an early flight...bought them some McDs breakfast and we camped out at the preboarding area.

ETA: Even though I had been first, the personnel brought a disabled elderly lady using a wheel chair (and her three) accompanying family (?) members ahead of me; like I would have liked to have done for any family/friend in the same situation. I was sooooo afraid they were going to take all the front seats. They didn't!

Patti...
If you are able to log in the day before and print your "A" passes for the five of you, you will likely be fine to arrive at the airport as one usually would...about 90 min. (plus or minus) before your flight. There is no need to camp in the "A" line for hours and hours unless you have to be the first on your flight. Even if you spend your airport time in the gift shop, etc...you will still be boarding ahead of all the "B" and "C" people. That said, you may end up in the back of the plane. At least with 5 of you, assuming 2 adults, y'all can switch out standing in the "A" line.

Have fun!!

edited to add...this may all not apply if you have little ones who need car seats, etc!
