SWA rapid rewards...hotels?

Anyone ever redeem rapid rewards using the hotel program? where you stay using a certain # of points per night? I am curious,wondering if it's a good use of some points,as the hotels I want to stay at are pricey,like 270.00 per night.... but it appears they have an iffy cancel policy, on the phone cs said I 'most likely' would get my points back if I had to cancel.....any experiences here? I am tempted to try,as it would save me well over 500.00..... I could wait,and make sure my plans are set in stone....but that's a little nerve wracking.....

I didn't know that you can redeem points for hotel nights. I thought you could only use the points for airfare. That would be helpful for us.
