That's great to hear! DW & I are flying SWA in Feb.

You just know that now, everyone is going to be checking in online at 12:01am... LOL

Yeah....I can already see a difference just with the online check-in of single reservations. DH and I flew SWA out of MHT in September, checked in at curbside 2 hours prior to flight and <i>still</i> got "B" boarding passes. It wasn't a big deal as it was just the two of us, but I was very surprised. Now I wonder if anyone checking in at the airport will be able to get "A" passes.

I just had a thought......maybe this is why they are considering doing away with the "cattle call" boarding.....???

I was wondering, I can check in at home before leave with no problem but is there anywhere at Disney that I can check in with a computer over there?

when ever I fly southwest I'm normally up at that time anyway so I do check in at 12:01am. Works great I get a "A" everytime.

Well, I'm not up at 12:01. Do you think it would be worth doing it at 5:30 for a 11:30 flight? Or wait until curbside?

It's worth it. You are still well outside the 2-hr. window when most people reach the airport kiosks. Also, having your BP already makes getting through the airport a lot easier.

If you have to check luggage can you get the online boarding pass to get the A group and still go to the counter to check you baggage?

Yes, you can either check your luggage curbside or at the counter.

We don't have a printer at home, but with the four of us (incl. 2 children) would be happy to check-in on-line at 12:01 if it helped keep us together.

Think we can do that and just wait in line to get the printed out passes?

We will be travelling with a 4yr old and a 7yr old. I'm hoping for "pre-boarding", but should I still do the on-line check-in to try and secure "A" passes, just in case half the plane has small children so they don't preboard at all? And how will this work once we get to the airport and we're checking our luggage? Will they change them to "preboard" at the counter?

TIA for the help ... we never fly, and have never done it with kids so we're very "uninformed" ! :teeth:

I just separated my Feb tic's yesterday, and then this note came in my email LOL.

Interesting thing she told me, was that even if one of us gets a B, or is denied a boarding past, to keep going, since the rest should be ok, and they may still get A's and can save seats. Now why would someone get a B, and the next person get an A? She also said that the A's are distributed (although I thought someone was told no) evenly between several ways to get the passes.

Your kids are NOT young enough for pre-boarding...just an FYI

I have this question as well. Do you actually have to bring the print out of the boarding pass or can they print it out when you check your luggage?

SWA's policies section of their web site says:

Prior to general boarding, Customers with disabilities, unaccompanied children, and families with children under five years of age will preboard. Customers holding boarding pass "A" will begin general boarding, followed by Customers with boarding pass "B," and then "C."

A 4 year old is young enough to pre-board.

I am not sure what they do in practice, but the point of online check-in is to print the boarding pass displayed when you check in.

From what I've heard - they split the A's, B's, and C's between the online, curbside and ticket counter. So - when the on-line allotment of online A passes is used up, there could still be some curbside or ticket counter A passes left.

As far as the pre-boards are concerned, if the plane does not suspend children's pre-boards, then 4 is okay for preboarding. SW's policy is 4 AND under, not under 4. Are you planning on bringing his/her car seat, if they still use one? If it is FAA approved, they will allow preboarding to give you time to install it.

Mary-Liz, I would try and get the "A" passes. Since preboarding is not guaranteed, an "A" secures an earlier boarding (and a better choice of seats) if preboarding is suspended. FYI - There are no "separate" preboarding passes - your "A" (or B or C) pass is used in conjuction with the preboarding "blue sleeve".

From what I have been told by SW and other Disers, you can checkin on line and not print out your boarding pass, if you don't have a printer. When you check in with your luggage just let them know that you checked in on line but didn't print your boarding pass. Then they will print it for you.

Plan on doing this in December, so I'll let you know what I find out.

under the age of 5 is generally okay for pre-boarding & the rest of the family can preboard with them-
sometimes if there are many, many little kids (like in orlando) they only preboard those with disabilities, but i have never run into this
